250k is not rich it's the law and done.
Move on. http://money.cnn.com/2012/12/31/news/economy/fiscal-cliff-rich/index.html |
| It's still rich. Just because someone who is 600 pounds is fatter doesn't mean the 350 pound person isn't fat. |
| Yes, that's exactly what the law says. It's not a political compromise, it's a definition of rich. Ugh. Please shut up, troll who has posted this 20 times. |
Exactly. What else is the government not going to qualify for you? You're being told what to eat, how much it's 'politically correct' to earn. Some states have advocated for putting devices on your house that allows the government to adjust your heat and A/C. You are being told what cars to drive and how much gas you can use. And lots of you think this is fine. Because you don't realize you are losing your freedom, bit by bit. |
|
Oh crap! I just realized that itemized deductions are capped for incomes at 250k! That must be what they're actually defining as rich! It's all so confusing.
Oh wait, it's not. Its just the product of the political process. |
| The first tax bracket starts at 8700 - so I'm going to decide THAT'S rich. I mean, the government must be incentivizing me to make no more than that if they start TAXING my income when I hit that level, right? Time to find a new job, I guess. |
You running out of foil over there, lovebug? So far as I can tell, no government is telling me what to eat. Taxes have nothing to do with "political correctness" -- it's revenue. No one anywhere has proposed allowing the government to control climate in your home. No one dictates what I drive or how much gas I use -- we haven't rationed gas since WWII. So what the FUCK are you prattling on about, you stupid ninny? |
|
1. You ever heard of Bloomberg and his salt and soft drink regulations? How about him rejecting food for the homeless because he couldn't tell the fiber, fat, etc. content?
2) Revenue taken by force from the American people, in a lot of cases for unconstitutional programs 3) Never been proposed? http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/11/us/11control.html 4) You miss the Carter years? What about the millions (billions) of dollars spent on electric cars, etc, that are huge losers in the market? Might I suggest you do a bit of research? |
| My guess, too, by the choice of your words, is that you are British. Come here to make more money than your restrictive UK government allows? |
The law does not legislate the term "rich". The law legislates tax brackets. If they created an extra tax bracket for people making $10M that would not magically make the people below into middle class. |
Uh, what?? Have you seen what professionals make in London? That little sign by their salary? That's Pounds, not dollars. |
+1 |
| 400K is not rich. That is upper middle class. |
| Why are you people so afraid of being (called) rich? I really don't get it. |
We've gone through this a billion times. If you consider someone in the top 1% of nationwide earners "upper middle class," you have a pretty narrow definition of what rich is. Or you need to make some new friends. |
