I certainly don't feel rich. I think it's the 2 houses I own b/c I can't sell one and the $120K law school debt.

+1 You may not have a lot of liquidity at the moment, but the ability to pay two mortgages means you are certainly richer than most. And if you are a lawyer, then you have the capacity to earn a darn good living, with or without 120k in debt.

I'm not rich because after I spend all my money, I don't have a ton of money left.

If you hear yourself saying you aren't rich because of all these expenses and you realize they aren't necessities, then learn from it.

Next time rent until you have debt paid down, or sell one house before buying another. Or rent until you are ready to sell the first house. Or do SOMETHING besides taking on three big cash commitments at the same time!

+1 this is the situation of the so-called "rich". They may be pulling in high salaries but have incur massive amounts of debt which are used to pay the debt off.

We've gone through this a billion times. If you consider someone in the top 1% of nationwide earners "upper middle class," you have a pretty narrow definition of what rich is. Or you need to make some new friends.

Are you stupid? The law says 450k get over it as OP said.

Really? There's a law with a new definition of "rich" now? I just thought there's a new highest tax bracket. You seem very confused, calm down.

2) Revenue taken by force from the American people, in a lot of cases for unconstitutional programs

3) Never been proposed?
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/11/us/11control.html

4) You miss the Carter years? What about the millions (billions) of dollars spent on electric cars, etc, that are huge losers in the market?

Might I suggest you do a bit of research?

1) Oh I'm sorry, is Bloomberg a federal elected official? No? Okay, STFU then, or don't live in NYC. Problem solved.
2) By force? Did the military show up at your door and threaten you with death? Were you beaten? No? Then STFU. Nearly everyone pays taxes in one form or another. Don't like it? MOVE out of the US. We won't miss you.
3) Again, this is a state initiative. Don't like it? Don't live in CA. Problem solved, STFU.
4) There's good evidence that private lobbyists from the traditional car manufacturers and the oil industry killed the electric car in the 70's, so we'll never know how it would have done in the market over the past 40 years. Time will tell how it does this time. Again, you stupid ass, STFU.

YOU are the moron who hasn't done the research. This is a democracy. Citizens are free to support any initiative or candidate they want and any policy initiatives they want. If someone espouses policy positions you don't like, you don't vote for them. Freedom is not freedom from all government - that is ANARCHY, retard. Want to live in anarchy? I suggest you move to some banana republic somewhere and see how you like it.

Both you and OP clearly are. Probably multiple psychotic personalities living in one addled mind. Get a grip already.

Exactly. What else is the government not going to qualify for you? You're being told what to eat, how much it's 'politically correct' to earn. Some states have advocated for putting devices on your house that allows the government to adjust your heat and A/C. You are being told what cars to drive and how much gas you can use. And lots of you think this is fine. Because you don't realize you are losing your freedom, bit by bit.

I'm so glad you want to live in "Freedomland," a fictional version of America where everyone is obese, the air is dense with fog and the rivers burn with pollution, oil and gas have run out, and CEOs earn untaxed billions while the vast working poor toil for pennies (also untaxed, what a victory!). Oh, don't forget the frequent foreign invasions (since Freedomland can't pay for a world-class military due to having zero tax revenue), the daily bridge collapses, the decaying roads and rampant disease (thanks to lack of funding for medical care for the non-rich). Also stick around for the armed robberies (police officers are on the gov't dole, you had to cut them), illiterate populace (ditto teachers!), and vanishing jobs.

IF ONLY WE LIVED IN FREEDOMLAND WHERE GOVERNMENT WEREN'T TRYING TO TELL US WHAT TO DO ALL THE TIME.

+1 Guessing that $120 law degree was not from an Ivy based on your poor past choices. Not too smart, eh?

You sound like America is no longer a good match for you. Maybe it's time to consider some alternatives; I hear Somalia is just lovely this time of year!
