I don't get the vibe that his marriage was a great love match. After being kind of a loser most of his life, he finally has money, freedom, and the kind of pretty, adventurous woman he always wanted. I'm not a fan, but I don't blame him for trying to live the dream with whatever time he has left. Good luck to her.

She's mid-50s??

I thought she was 68/70, wow.

Are we talking about the same person? I think she looks great

She's pretty but easily looks mid-60s.

Well, when a man goes 20 years younger, one would expect a women with considerable eye appeal.

They look happy.

I wonder what his children make of this revolving door?

I've read that she's 60. But who knows. In any case, he's happy. She's happy. That's really all that matters. They don't owe anyone anything. They like to go to sporting events and enjoy similar hobbies... that's what you are looking for when you are 55+ -- compatability. It's harder to find that many of you realize.

Seems like Gerry has more wealth than Mel...

Mel said in court docs that he only makes $1000/month. And after he pays his court-ordered debts to his ex wife, Mel will only have about $250k equity in his house proceeds. Not sure what he has in any other assets. Either he is lying to the court, or he's poor. Either one makes him a faux-golden bachelor.

Mel walks like frankenstein.

Is anyone watching? I watched the first episode but none since. Mel is just kind of boring and seeing him hobble around after what he said. It's unfortunate for the women because they got stuck being on his season.

Yes, he's sooo stiff and does not seem interesting. The women are youthful and aside from Nicole seem like a nice and accomplished bunch. They can all do better than him.

Agree. I'd say Cindy seems like a good match for him overall though.

Apparently someone chooses to leave next week. If I had to guess, I'd say Cheryl and Nicole would be the next to go.

Withholding judgment for now, but I suspect Mel might not be as basic. I can't envision Gerry reading books about Picasso, for instance. Mel's ex, though much younger of course, is a naturally pretty brunette and not at all plastic. I don't think he really likes Nicolle, and keeping her was the producers' idea. I could see him ending up with Cindy, who is intelligent as well as beautiful. I can't see him with any of the others, except *possibly* Debbie. Not sure he's very attracted to her though. He enjoys Peggy as a person, but she'll be friend zoned. No spark with Cheryl. He was basically ignoring the plastic blondes while macking on Cindy. I think he didn't give her the rose because producers don't want him to telegraph that he likes her the best.

Anyway, I'm okay with someone who is boring if he is actually genuine, and the opposite of Gerry. The acrimonious divorce and failure to pay up are very troubling though. I assume he was willing to do the show as a strategy to replenish the coffers as he gears up to deal with his financial obligations. A guy his age, wealthy and handsome, does not need this to meet women.

But, sad to say my young cousins have started filler lip injections too (parents can afford it$$).

I watched part of it for the first time last night and the fillers and work done was so distracting. There must be a lot of bad medspas, or whoever does this work, out there.

Mel has an advanced degree and lives in a cosmopolitan area. Though college educated, Gerry was underemployed, even working as a janitor for a while, and lives in hicksville. These are two very different men. I hope Mel at least turns out to be sincere, but I wouldn't bet any money on it at this point.

Gerry’s book is out. Still sounding like a narcissistic tool. Please, please, please let Theresa spill the beans. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheGoldenBachelor_/s/5D77OtGXh0
