I paid $440K in 2011 and it is now worth 550K. Refinanced recently and this was the appraiser's estimate and around the same on Zillow. This is also the same price other comparable homes are going for. This was a foreclosure. |

We bought in 2001 for 450,000 in DC. We've made lots of improvements, central a/c, finishing basement with a new full bath, finishing attic into a usable room, updating kitchen, putting in a new patio and new retaining walls and new main bathroom.
The house was appraised recently for 899,000. |

Bought current home in 2006 @ $700K and now worth about $500K thanks to a lot of foreclosures and short sales in our neighborhood. But we bought this as our forever house, so we're not worried. The value has risen about $40K in the last year since the foreclosures and short sales are all gone and regular prices are now rising. We expect to be here when we pay off the mortgage in 2028. |
