Oscars red carpet

I like Maya's dress well enough. I didn't like Kristin's - I think you can either have a drapey top or a full skirt, but not both. I did like the color though.

Agree on Ellie, and of course Rose was one of the best looks of the night.

Melissa, Melissa, Melissa - why girl? She has great hair, gorgeous eyes, cute face, and I've seen her in some things that really suit her atypical Hollywood figure. This is not one of them.

I hate this. I don't think the gold suits her and I hate the neckband and wristbands.

She looks gorgeous, but I just can't stand her.

What? She has *never* been very curvy. Her natural body type is a little tiny thing. Always has been.

Nope. Look at her early days on Live.

Yep. I have. The only time in her life she looked even a little curvier was when she was pregnant. She is naturally tiny.

I posted the above -- it was a top 5 look from the awards for me. But then Wunmi went and wore the below to the Vanity Fair party, which I also love, and also just love them next to each other. She totally won the night for me.

Ugh! I hate both of these.

I do too. These are two of the worst dresses of the night.

Why?

It's hard to do maternity on the red carpet and these both seem to nail it -- great colors, textures, they fit well, there's some drama. Seems like she nailed it.

DP. I agree with the PP. The first sequined dress is just plain ugly in every way. The second one is a pretty color but so over the top as to look silly. Bad choices.

+1. So many people looking positively skeletal.

I’m more weirded out by the plastic surgery faces. At some point, looking 20 years younger than your real age isn’t impressive. It’s just weird looking.

Agree. And some of these women are not thin due to ozempic. Demi has looked this way for decades now. I think some of those women limit carbs, eat no sugar, and work out a couple hours a day. Anniston is another like that. I don’t even think it’s really an eating disorder — they are actually probably really healthy but I would be homicidal if I lived like that. But I do know people who really love a lean chicken breast over bulgar with kale followed by an hour of Pilates.

I admit it totally don’t know but Kidman has the look to me of someone who is so stressed out by her perfectionism that she has diarrhea almost every day. She just seems so, so tightly wound.

This is just straight up insane. OF COURSE IT'S AN EATING DISORDER.

Are you one of those ignorant people who think every thin person has an eating disorder? My mother, my best friend and my son are all underweight naturally and have tiny appetites. They're genetically programmed that way. All three have been on weight-gaining diets at some point in their lives.

Also, plump people can have eating disorders too, just so you know. The size you see has NOTHING to do with the existence of an eating disorder.

I agree that many of these women are naturally thin (since that is highly correlated with success in the industry to start with). I’ll also point out that I know so many women that developed auto immune type GI problems in their 40s or 50s where eating gluten, dairy, fat gives them explosive diarrhea/gas. (So no, they aren’t faking it.). My sister used to be two sizes larger than me but is now 2 sizes smaller because she can’t eat really anything tasty. She lives on meat, fish. eggs, brown rice, nuts and vegetables and has not a stitch of fat on her. She’s super healthy but it’s a major pain to plan shared meals with her on vacation.

Agreed. Stunning lady but Louis Vuitton did not do her any favors.

You are both high.

DP. God forbid we have different opinions. Grow up.

So many ugly dresses from that crew last night. Good grief.

It’s a great color on her. My daughter has the same coloring and she had a dress for the bar mitzvah circuit in this color and got so many compliments!

I guarantee you that all of these people are using a GLP 1 in addition to their highly disordered eating.

Anonymous wrote:Anyone watching. I just saw Kelly Ripa. I love the dress, but the top is a no-go. Especially because of her flat chest, all I can think about when I look at this is "flat as a board". It looks a little softer in this picture; when I watched her on the red carpet, the top part looked very stiff and flat.

She looks gorgeous as it is. Everyone doesn't need or want implants.

+1

She's very pretty but her body looks like a young teen boy.

So? I'm also pretty flat chested and petite. I don't see what the problem is. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

Also flat chested and I hate that dress. I think it’s because aesthetics is about balance and contrast so if you take an angular flat surfaced person and put them in an angular flat surfaced dress, it’s not visually pleasing. Something that creates more curve or movement would be more visually appealing. I’m not saying she needs falsies — just that something that is more fluid would look better. I actually don’t think that dress would look good on anyone though. Unfortunate because it’s otherwise a nice dress.

+1 and adding that the neckline hits the absolute widest part of her which is why it’s so bad.

All this Kelly Ripa bashing when Kirsten Dunst has the EXACT SAME neckline and an objectively worse dress. Why do this when you can wear anything?

DP. Not a fan of the neckline, but I love the tiered dress.

It’s a horrible dress but Kirsten seems to be leaning into the “look at how arty I am in this terribly unflattering dress.” This is what Tilda Swintin always does and Kristin Wiig to a lesser extent.

Yasss!

I'm sick of Demi Moore. When it looked like she had lobbed her hair for Paris Fashion Week, I was so excited - but alas, it was just a wig. The hair is beyond dated and old.

Her hair is gorgeous. You're rude. You will never look that good at her age.

Mmkay. We disagree, and it's clear who is rude here.

NP I’m a Demi fan and I wish she would cut her hair. It’s pretty but it’s so weirdly long. She looked awesome with a longer bob decades ago.

+1
I couldn't believe how much better she looked recently in her wig. Not a fan of the wet look, but the length was perfect.
