You should be an insurance actuary. Or an airline executive, where they do calculations of how much a particular part or repair costs vs. the value of human lives.

Sorry but I think my immuno supressed 70 year old dad is worth saving. As is my cerebral palsy stricken, 30 year old brother. Unemployment can be fixed; remember the WPA? Death, alas, is permanent.

Am I worth saving? I'm only 50 but I have an underlying condition. But I also have two kids who are still young enough to need their mom. Alive, even if unemployed.

We need to save our elderly and sick. But something tells me than dropping cash from helicopters, it would cheaper, more fun, more effective for everyone if they sent them to Disneyworld, Hawaii in quarantine while the rest of us young folks build up immunity and keep the economy going.

this is for it to be officially proclaimed effective. if the results seem promising on the ground people will line up for it and nobody will stop them.

This vaccine won't be available for 18 month to 2 years at a bare minimum. The usual timeline is 5+ years. The FDA is not going to skirt the safety issues and they will monitor those getting the vaccine now for a full year.

My DD got a fully-approved and tested vax, that turned out to kill a number of babies, so they pulled the vax.

It could be a looooooooong time before this vax comes to market, because it has to be thoroughly tested. You don't want to kill healthy people with a vax that's supposed to save lives.

6 members of a family in NJ tested positive for covid-19.

2 died. Woman (55) and her brother (age ?). related to initial death in NJ (a friend)

4 members of the family are in the hospital, 3 in critical condition. Other family members from a family function being tested.

My question: what are the "life saving drugs" the hospital wants to get from the CDC? Are these drugs part of a clinical trial?

I think a lot of unexpected things will happen. Online will explode as a way of working. I think sadly there will be far fewer elderly especially the very elderly (over 70). A new world view will happen with the survivors.

And yet there are folks who had no fever or low grade fever for just a day with positive test results. It’s crazy how extreme the spectrum is for this virus. I’m pretty sure a family member has it which means I’ll need to be tested as well. We have the same symptoms. They are high risk.

Like the first person who returned from China to Washington state. I believe the person was in the hospital a while and in his 30s.

It’s crazy to think this could have been prevented in Wuhan if reaction was to contain earlier vs masking this issue. Or if travel bans occurred earlier.
