Sorry to ask this -- but can some one tell us the state of play with the mayor and council taking action to correct the problem? Thanks! |
Nothing is happening. But Jack Evans was one of the few people on the record as supporting this deal, and he was just forced to resign due to his corruption, so maybe with him gone, better policymaking can prevail. |
Do you mean sole source contracts like the one Dc has with Maret and mayoral crony Jack Evans? Yes fully agreed that the contract was improperly done and should be reversed. Can you tell marge Talbott and Ian Cameron? |
Hopefully the Maret deal will be reconsidered with Evans out. I would think that if you only can push a deal through by dealing with a corrupt politician and giving admission for his kids then your contract should be examined and thrown out if found illegal. |
These have nothing to do with Maret. It's just a couple of Hardy activists venting. #Hardyfailingurbanschool |
Yup this. This is the type of deal that makes dC look like it isn’t capable of governing in a competent way. Maret is being penny wise and pound foolish because it’s losing its reputation even if it’s getting a deal by paying only $95,000/year for a DC park when other Dc privates are spending millions to enhance their infrastructure. |
Bowser is ready to “turn the page” on Jack Evans. Now that he’s gone, I bet she doesn’t fight tooth and nail to save Jelleff for Maret anymore.

+1. It’s easier for Maret to pretend that only 1 person cares that they are monopolizing a public asset at a below market rate then to admit that thousands of DC residents think what they are doing is wrong. |
More Maret Jelleff in the news with respect to the school having tainted the debate around Ellington. I wonder how Maret feels being a case study in mismanagement of public land.

Walked by Jelleff this afternoon and saw the field is being torn up and hauled away with a sign saying it’s closed. |
How would the schools use the field in ways that weren't "school-related"? |
The sign should say "Maret dollars at work." |
Ellington -- with its reputation for humungous cost overruns, funds "shrinkage", residency fraud, mismanagement and lack of accountability -- leaves behind a rather strong taint of its own. |
Maret parents spending all that money for a third-tier private school not even close to the level of others in its backyard. Sad. |
