DM lost 13-7 to St Ignatius. Once again out coached and the offense is horrible. If not for Matt Beachley there would be no offensive life. Close defense played well but DM spends so much time playing defense. The SSDM for DM are bad and every team that plays DM should exploit the SSDM with ease. This is possible the worst DeMatha lacrosse team I have ever seen. This is what no recruiting will do for a program. No real 26 or 27 recruits.

Having every offensive play run through one person is not coaching -if anything it is destructive for the team for two reasons- if another player gets the ball they want to be a hero so maybe they get some attention and secondly, opposition shuts down the offense by defending one person. This isn’t rocket science. The face off kid is a ‘26 so this statement isnt true. DM definitely has a problem when they are not building up each player but instead highlighting one and believing one can carry the entire team. These guys looked good in the fall- offensively and defensively- - so it isn’t the kids- it comes from top down. Toxic.

The problem is the coaching. No real development and in game adjustment is not happening. I didn’t read it as not having any 26 and 27 recruits, just not many and not developing them. The 26 fogo is not really given a chance. Dude battles all the time. They pull him when the wing play is nonexistent. It is sad to see the program in this state with DeMatha’s history. Not sure how you fix the problem when you are not getting recruits because players really don’t want to go to DeMatha in general.

Dave Mitchell was the coach in the fall. Coaching makes a big difference.

Bingo- no development. JV team not practicing the entire 10 days even though they need it. Heard the JV coach yelling they don’t know the rules of the game- huh, wonder whose job it is to teach them? Bunch of clowns.

Bears looked good in all areas of the game

Dominant. Takes a lot to serve a beat down like that on a good team like Bullis.

Landon played well, and I think can play better. Best team in area that I have seen. Bullis plays poorly off ball on defense and offense and has the 3 times I’ve watched them. They don’t share the ball and settle for poor shots. They just got away with it before giants poor teams. Landon took advantage of it and dominated them.

Heard the head coach was more into doing CrossFit than developing players IQ and skills.

I’m not sure it was dominant and it might be reversed in the tournament. Landon definitely moves the ball and Bullis relies almost solely on dodging. Landon won 5 of 6 faceoffs in the 4th and Bullis turned it over.

Is a win over Bullis that big of a deal? I really don’t see a very good team when I watch Bullis.

Landon was the better team yesterday, their athleticism and play in between the lines is impressive. Offensively the Bears have a lot of weapons and it showed.

Bullis has better individual offensive players but the Bears SSDMs and close defense play very well together as a unit - they don’t have any stud defenders but clearly they have chemistry.

I think Prep is better than Bullis…. We will find out in a week if they are better than Landon.

A friend of mine who saw the heights v DM game told me that DM just seems like a complete disaster of a program. Coaches fighting, no adjustments made, lack of recruitment, etc.

The former coach is laughing on his way to the bank to cash those club dues checks. I feel for the new coaching staff since they were left with such a rough hand

They have to bring Dave Mitchell back if they want to win now.

Landon won the game but didn’t even play close to their best game by any means. If Landon fires on all cylinders they win that game by 10 easy.

Landon seems to be the most complete team in the DMV right now.

Good team defense with particularly strong SSDMs, goalie making saves, two fogos with strong wing play, and a dangerous transition offense.

To beat them, you need to win face-offs, eliminate their transition offense, and probably attack their close D more than their midfield defense.

He'd have them all playing lights out and going D1 in no time, like he does with all of his club kids.

That's why he coaches most of his players from other clubs. He does not develop players...just recruits them
