Yeah this is so ridiculous. Either today had to be on or tomorrow is a complete waste of money and resources

You people are infuriating. It’s a complete waste of money and resources to go to school on a weekday? Honestly get a grip.
To warm up every building and bus just to have to shut everything down 5 hours later for what’s ultimately going to be a day full of YouTube videos and Kahoot? Yeah

Welcome to the real world, where going to work and school isn’t based on feeling like it.

Well a lot of people feel differently about that. My girlfriend Honey was saying that it is very disruptive to have a 2 hour delay for her son. He prefers things to be on time or not start at all.

A LOT of melt happened today. I was out and things are much better.

Not true at all. At least for sidewalks

So school is in tomorrow?

UGH, I hope not.. and I am a parent who works from home. Residential streets around us are still not plowed and school buses cannot pass. Hilly terrain doesn't help with this as are all the post holiday sniffles.

Here is the thing. They are not going to be plowed. This is it. Don’t like it, get a shovel. We did that today on the bus stop area. It was like chiseling rock.

Anonymous wrote:Wait Fairfax was closed AGAIN on Thursday? lol. Howard and Baltimore counties were back Wednesday and got like, 3 inches less of snow. What are you guys doing down there?

Being a large county with a fair number of semi-rural and rural areas that have dirt roads, sharp drop offs with no shoulders and hairpin turns.

Somehow a greater percentage of our kids can actually read despite using more snow days. What are you guys doing up there?

In Baltimore we are recovering from hundreds of years of systemic racism and continued racism, lead in the paint, and poverty. But at least we can open our schools!

It IS true, maybe not where you were, the exact sidewalks you were looking at, but for a large enough part of the county that they think kids can safely navigate it once the sun is up.

Post holiday sniffles??

Seasonal sniffles this time a year, many people are under the weather or recovering. You are new to the world? Happy first birthday

Anyone who thinks any learning is getting done tomorrow is woefully out of touch with their own children

Sure. Why wouldn’t it? I’ve got lessons ready to go. I’m sure the kids will be excited to be back and engage in what I have planned.

I'm a teacher too and even I couldn't get through this without cracking up. Dream on.

Me too! Also a teacher. 😊

Well, I guess there will be an excused absence for mine, not dragging them there for a few hours through the icy roads. How stupid and completely unnecessary. It does nothing for parents or teachers. NOTHING. Nobody will be ahead learning anything and working parents are just going to have more logistical issues to deal with. Thanks, brain dead idiots

Staff has been back for two days already, and would be there tomorrow regardless, so the buildings are warm. I can’t speak for the buses, but if they haven’t done anything yet and/or can’t get them running tomorrow, next Monday or Tuesday is only going to be worse, not better, in that regard. My kid will go to school because the roads she’ll take are clear and she’s been driving them since Tuesday afternoon, but if I felt it was unsafe I’d just keep her home (and have done so before).

2 hour delay is probably the worst possible choice here
