I just pulled out the guidebook I read before our trip. It was written in 2004. (Why I still have it is anyone's guess. Haha.) Kinda interesting.
4 day park hopper to Disney World: $208 adult, $167 kids 1 day, 1 park admission to Disney World: $52 adult, $42 kids Double room at Coronado Springs: $133-$209/night Double room at All-Star Music: $77-$124/night 1-day, 1-park admission to Universal: $52 adults/$42 kids Double room at the Contemporary: $239-545/night Meal at Ohana: $24 adults/$10 kids One day parking at a Disney park: $7 |
So because the Disney internet world is incredible and sort of scary, there is actually a site that has OBSERVED crowd levels for every day since the beginning of 2009. Sadly it doesn’t go back to your trip, but I was curious to see if crowd levels have really changed.
I took the first week of spring break (March 13-20) and compared 2009 to 2019 (obviously 2020 is not going to be helpful). The crowd levels are ranked from 1-10, with 10 being max. They do have crowd levels per park, but I’ll use their overall score and will list the 2009 level and then the 2019 level. March 13th — 7, 9 March 14th — 5, 8 March 15th — 8, 7 March 16th — 7, 7 March 17th — 7, 8 March 18th — 6, 10 March 19th — 7, 7 March 20th — 5, 10 So on 5 of the 8 days, crowd levels rose. On 2 days they stayed the same. On 1 day they went down. It’s important to note that on the 20th and the 18th (the 10 level days) there was extra magic hours going on in at least one park, driving up crowd levels. That didn’t exist in 2009. So it’s probable that without extra magic hours, crowd levels on those days would’ve been lower. My conclusion? Yes, sometimes crowd levels are higher. Sometimes they’re the same. Sometimes they’re lower. If you were to take all the data on that site and do an analysis, I’m not convinced you’d see a linear increase. |
Interesting! Just eye-balling it, it looks like most of that stuff is consistent with inflation (the food, the value and moderate resorts, and parking) while the park tickets definitely have way outpaced inflation. The deluxe resort price definitely has too. |
Exactly! |

Wow, super interesting! The park tickets today are like 2-3x what they "should be" with inflation! Parking is almost 4x what it used to be too... |
But weirdly the value and moderate resort prices are just what you’d expect with inflation. |
Looks like they're trying to sell responsible vacations to the Caribbean. |
I’d choose the Disney cruise over their park. Children have their own autonomy while on the ship, so it’s actually relaxing. Age appropriate activities for everyone, which is nice. |
I mean I don’t hate it, but it just doesn’t appeal to me. Standing in lines just feels like a waste of time. I prefer open spaces with few people... it’s a break from overcrowded DMV. But to each his own. |
At the park I feel like theirs a strong emphasis on sales, someone is always trying to sale you something!
The food is mostly terrible. ( Not including dine in restaurants $$$) Epcot just needs to be closed; and a new park reopened not worth the time of day. More rides/shows/entertainment we waited a couple of hours for fireworks. Did they ever open up their school to kids outside the neighborhood?! 🤣 |
This post is painful. |
So is going to Disney. |
Maybe learn to write coherently; then form an opinion on Disney. |
