Between Fox being selected as the NWSL 1st pick and the 04 05 group sending three players to the YNL training, FCV is doing something right. No other local club comes close to matching that record.

As a Loudoun soccer dad I have admit this is true. There’s no denying it. And I hate to say it because of all the back and forth between my club and FCV. Nonetheless I will not be sad if my DD ends up leaving. The last 3 years have been a massive disappointment and a complete downhill with no brakes regarding club organization, communication and coaching - or lack thereof.

Lmfao. You think FCV made Emily Fox? Or do you think Emily Fox played at FCV because they were one of two ECNL clubs in the area and it happen to be the one in her backyard?

It’s absolutely absurd that these clubs claim the greatness of their players. These club benefit from having a good name and having good kids flock to them.

BRYC made Mia Hamm!

wrong she was an Army brat that moved here in 11 th grade

She mostly grew up in Witchata falls , Texas . Not sure how much club soccer had to do with it. She's an outlier club or no clubs she had it in her. Like Laney Hs didn't make Michael Jordan great. he's an outlier had it in him. Clubs can develop average talent, outliers will make with or without the club playing a major part. She could have skipped Bryc and Lake Braddock all together and still would have been one of the best.

That’s the point is was baiting you to say. These clubs claim kids for PR but had little to do with their greatness. Successful programs attract good players....which breeds more success. That’s the model. But developing greatness doesn’t happen

No. They’re not done. But I don’t predict any teams in this area picking up. Possibly NEFC in New England. A FL club or two to help with travel. Don’t see Tophat or FCV joining the party despite Tophat begging.

It doesn’t work like that. Too many clubs in NOVA. We are not slated for anymore. Just the way it goes.

Mia Hamm's strength is that she was extremely fast, athletic, physical, and competitive. I think she also played on boys teams for a while. That set her apart from her peers.

Anson Dorrance says that the first thing he noticed about her as a teenager was her speed. Once she got to UNC her game improved and she dated a men's player who she would play 1v1 against every day.

2 PIPELINE SC PLAYERS INVITED TO U17 U.S. WOMEN’S NATIONAL TEAM TRAINING CAMP

Two members of Pipeline Soccer Club, Finley Lavin & Hannah Jibril, both 15 years of age, has been invited to join the U-17 U.S. Women’s National Team Virtual Camp. Lavin and Jibril will be among those competing for a spot on the roster that will play in next year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India. By their selection, Lavin and Jibril become the first Pipeline players selected by a U.S. National Team, an honor reserved for the top players in American soccer. Lavin has played for Pipeline SC since she was 8-years-old and currently plays on the club’s 2002 ECNL team, coached by former U.S. Men’s National Team player and Club co-founder, Santino Quaranta. Jibril who began Pipeline at 9 years old, currently plays for the 2004 ECNL team, coached by ECNL Director, Danny Skelton. Both players spent 4 seasons with coach Tommy Quaranta at Pipeline.

“We are thrilled for Finley and Hannah for this tremendous accomplishment,” Quaranta said. “The pool of players at the National Team level are separated by very little. Fin has the willingness to work and suffer for her teammates on the field, which makes her great. The soccer ability speaks for itself. Hannah consistently proves to be one of the best attacking players in the region playing a year up. Her creative and fearless mindset will drive her as she fights for a spot on the U17 World Cup roster next summer”

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the National Team has seen limited action and much of Lavin and Jibril’s initial engagement with the team will be remote.

“I am extremely grateful for this amazing opportunity and couldn’t be more excited to train with some of the best players in the nation,” Lavin said.

“I’m ecstatic to be selected, but I understand there is more to be done. Hopefully, this is the start of a long awaited journey” Jibril said

My kid used to play against Hannah and Finley all the time back in EDP days. HJ’s really good. Fast. Richmond also has three “camp” players as does FCV. My kid’s played against (Richmond) and with (FCV) all of them. They’ll all play D1 and a few pro someday. Kind of fun to see this happen.

Epic regional final several years ago b/n FCV and Pipeline with about 4-5 of these elite players all just before the ECNL and DA/GA age. This is 05G by the way. Good to see they stuck with it and are succeeding. Difference was that Pipeline developed the team and FCV absorbed the #1 Loudoun and #2 ODFC team at that age and recruited some top caliber kids new to the area to form their team. Only one kid on that FCV team grew up playing FCV. Good representative example of how those two clubs work. Not saying one approach is better than the other, just pointing out observations.
Anonymous
^^^Yes, those teams were great and both Loudoun and ODFC were elite teams on their own and strong enough to compete with Pipeline.
