| I'd say these games are telling in that ECNL and DA almost never play, even in tournaments. This entire forum is DA vs ECNL for top talent, so while coaches "could" try different tactics, I'd say 98% of the game will be exactly the same. This isn't NFL pre-season bullcrap, these are real games for the girls, especially with ECNL spring canx'd. |
I cannot agree more. Coaches want to see where they stand against other clubs too. Practices are great, but playing against equal competitors helps coaches understand strengths and weaknesses prior to - what some call - real games in tournaments. |
| I bet majority of parents care about their kids playing more than the results. Parents want to see their kids playing friendly or not friendly. Players want to play not seat at home on the weekend because they are unable to travel. |
Well, there isn't a DA anymore so you are about a year behind. But keep thinking scrimmages mean anything. |
They don't mean anything to some dumb website standings, but they mean 100% to the DDs that play. If you don't know that, you never played as a kid yourself or your DD/DS isn't getting any playing time and you're downplaying to help yourself feel better. |
OMG the kids have moved on from the game by the time you pull out of the parking lot if you let them. It isn't anything more or less special to them. They are kids playing a game. Yes they try hard and will play hard but trust me, it matters more to you then it does to them. |
| We are BRYC and are playing MD United this weekend |
| Anyone know who McLean is scrimmaging? Our coach told the girls there was a scrimmage but we've gotten no info... |
inches of snow Sunday just killed 1/2 these scrimmages.

These scrimmages are well-deserved match ups for talented players. They will get great game film for their college reach-out, play competitively, and keep loving the beautiful game. As a GA parent very grateful to the coaches and clubs that made it happen

Unless they’re playing U-15 boys; that’s the only time they don’t try hard |
I was waiting for this response. It seems to be the go to response I hear all the time but never seen played out. It’s absurd to suggest that coaches travel to play a rival club just to experiment. They can do that at home during inter-club scrimmages. A coach can’t do an assessment of the team while also do new formations and moving players around. It’s all just a built in excuse used by the losers. Now, does the best team always perform? No |
| Whatever. I'm just happy they are playing. Many other states, including CA are not playing at all. |
We are as far away from California as England is from Russia. |
+1. My kid’s team had 6 games with NC and SC teams canceled, so we’re using friendlies instead against DC area clubs. That’s nice for the kids as believe it or not ... they actually enjoy playing soccer games. |
