PP here. Right — we need to be elevating our standards and recognizing the value of expertise and experience.

Being President is perhaps the most demanding and complex job in the world. We can’t just give it to Mayor Pete because he does well in press interviews.

I agree. What has he actually accomplished? I respect his service as a veteran. As a gay man, I also admire him being open about his sexuality. But he ran state-wide and lost, ran for DNC chair and lost, ran for president in lost, and of mayor of a small city, left the marginalized communities out to dry while focusing entirely on bringing white collar jobs to the city.

What did he actually do to deserve to be president? He is smart and a great speaker, I'll give him that. But beyond that, there isn't much there.

There are the same people who thought he'd be great as VP. I personally think Pete is an awesome person but he wasn't and still isn't ready for an administration position.

Buttigieg should be USTR or UN Ambassador. A position where he could use his smarts and negotiation skills, but gain real executive experience. This would put him on the path for a higher cabinet position, or a separate run for office, before he ultimately runs for President again.

I admire him a lot, but a lot of the caution around his experience is warranted.
