Your kid will never be looked by a pro team in Spain. It is not about where are the coaches are from. When the kids is 17 he needs to know how to play. Just knowing coaches does not get you anywhere and especially in Spain. How many Americans are playing in Spain? Right - zero. good luck. |
Olympiacos have currently 6 travel teams - 05s, 07s, 08s, 09s and 10s plus 03 girls. Will be playing in NCSL after 6 month. Also they play in a very competitive winter league. Olympiacos 05 do not play in the lowest tournaments and have mostly made it to the finals from what I heard. It does not matter - just stick to the facts. I am not Olympiacos parent yet, and do not know Harry or anybody. Just doing my research for my son. Cougars organization does not exist - all teams are under Olympiacos including 80 plus development kids from what I was told. I am considering this for my 09 and 2011 sons. |
With both of the last statement having BS written all over them. If Bo was a good coach, he would have been somewhere after 30 years in the US. Yet he never made it past Annandale. Even some shitty coaches coach college in the US ![]() |
I see NO La Liga influence in this video. They do not connect a lot of passes and all is the same basic US kickball. Taking goal kicks has nothing to do with modern soccer. Wake up dear parent. |
I think they already left but VIVA is trying to save face. VIVA will fold after the fall - will not make it financially with a small number of kids and no fields. |
You will NEVER even get to the point when Villareal will sell you. You just will not be even close unless you buy ticket to Spain and go on tour. Be real parents. |
Also want to wish good luck. Do not get too depressed when you son does not make a D3 college - 90% of the kids form Bo do not. Hardly any D1 commitments came form Annandale over the years. |
They don’t even scan or look to receive and turn with their first touch. They take a touch (usually quite heavy) then turn clunkily then look up to try to play forward. Look at their very first pass out to the wing immediately after kickoff. The lane is there to easily get that pass out there on the ground, instead it’s practically a punt, the winger struggles to bring it down, gets closed down while waiting for that ball to come down and almost gives up a throw in. This tells you how the team plays in a nutshell, and they’re ranked #2? Lol |
Is Bo known for not being at games? Better question is does Bo have some sort of magical PlayStation controller we don’t know about? He was at some games screaming at his son ![]() |
"There will be an opportunity for selected players based on recommendation, skills and performance, to visit Villarreal CF Spain for individual tryouts and team training." It's right there on the website: http://villarrealvaacademy.org/. That's what they're promising. Problem is it's a baldfaced lie and they know it. 1. It's against FIFA rules for youth players to move countries for soccer reasons. If a kid's parents happen to relocate for work related reasons, and the kid just happens to be good at soccer, and ends up in an academy, that's fine. But soccer can't be the reason for the move. FIFA will investigate and the sanctions have been significant. When they cracked down on Barca a few years ago they imposed a 2 season transfer ban. The fallout and ripple effect of that was felt all over Europe. The clubs don't mess around with this any more. Do players still move to Europe? Sure. But they do it in a way that makes it look like it's for non-soccer family/work reasons, and the kid usually plays amateur level for a year before being "found" and transferring to an academy. Even then FIFA will look into it. Any kid trying to transfer after going for a "tryout" would be immediately red flagged. It just isn't going to happen. Putting aside #1 though, 2. Even if Villarreal CF was interested in scouting and recruiting players from this area, they would not be looking at VIVA. That would make zero sense. They would go where the best players are. In the past when European clubs did that it meant sending teams and scouts to the top flights of the biggest tournaments. That's how local (Beth-Olney) product Gideon Zelalem was scouted by Arsenal - at the Dallas Cup. Nowadays it would mean going to DA showcases and/or the GA Cup. 3. The players are nowhere near the level to even be considered for Villarreal CF's academy. I'm not trying to be mean but that's just a fact. A couple of them at most might get a look at one of the local DAs, but to be honest even that's a stretch. With the exception of VDA - which is really hurting in this age group - I don't think anyone on that field would have a realistic chance of making Arlington, DCU or Bethesda. They are good travel soccer players, but they are not prospective future pros. What boils me up is that Bo and Carlos know all 3 of these things perfectly well, but they still have no problem lying to people to get them to join and stay with the program, by convincing them that playing with VIVA is a way to "get looked at" by the professional team in Spain. Very unethical people. |
Well the state level is not that high obviously. All top teams including DAs are playing pin pong - no ball possession, running and kicking. La Liga - here we come, take us!!!! may be our boys can help with field maintenance there or sell candies at the games ![]() ![]() |
OMG did you seriously miss the sarcasm there dear parent? Let me try and spell it out for you: They aren't trying to play out of the back from goal kicks. He has his central defender come in and boot it long every time - presumably because he can kick farther than the goalie. If the Spanish coaches they brought over had any influence at all, there is no way they would let the team take goal kicks that way. So yeah, I'm agreeing with you. No La Liga influence. It was a joke. |
Exactly, if the kid is good by 18 - chances will come. Before 18 the kid cannot go to Europe anyways unless the family move there. Focus on player development, not on the fake promises and illusions. To many fake promises in the US soccer now. Player DEVELOPMENT needs to happen. Yet we are seeing videos of 05 VReal team that plays horrible soccer despite the high rankings. |
Better than what???? Looking at the video of the top 05 team, there are no questions about what they are doing - same US direct soccer. |
Great analysis of the 05 team play!!!! I have observed it for a year now. Always the same play - kick forward into pressure. Bo calls a pass back a negative pass. Well, million of negative passes then made in La Liga over a season. Yes these guys are #2 and may be deservingly so. All it tells us that others are even worse. I have seen some teams play a different style- passing, control, offside traps etc. However, size really matters at this age. Barcelona academy in Spain always looses to big kids from Serbia, France etc. Then it all changes after U17. In other words, u14 wins, rankings etc. do not a matter. What matters is education of players, which hardly exists. |
