https://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/28/us/28religion.html
Those who scored the highest were atheists and agnostics, as well as two religious minorities: Jews and Mormons. The results were the same even after the researchers controlled for factors like age and racial differences.

“Even after all these other factors, including education, are taken into account, atheists and agnostics, Jews and Mormons still outperform all the other religious groups in our survey,” said Greg Smith, a senior researcher at Pew.

http://newsfeed.time.com/2010/09/28/survey-atheists-know-more-about-religion-than-believers/
“Why did atheists do so well? The study concluded that those who reject faith often do so after growing up in a religious household, and studying and deliberating keeping the faith. Also, atheists and agnostics tend to be better educated in general. Why did Christians do so poorly? It may be because once someone accepts a faith, they stop examining it.”

Time for a new survey! It’s been almost ten years now and I bet religious people have studying like crazy to improve their scores.

Just reading this thread, it’s obvious how embarrassed some religious people are about being beat out by atheists and agnostics.

Thanks for all the typing... but they’re not reporting on the claim at 15:08, that atheists “know a lot about religion.” Nor does either of them say that.

If we grade on a curve, then they are f#cking geniuses compared to the Christians.

You need to go back to statistics 101. Pew says Catholics know more about Catholic theology than atheists. All Christians know more about the four Gospels than atheists. Thanks

This thread is a sh!tstorm of atheists actually lying about Pew’s results. And lying about the atheist post at 15:08 that started it all.

LOL. No lying. Just a whole lot of Christian butt hurt.

Are you 12? Do you think that’s actually a good rebuttal to some valid points? Why yes, apparently you do.

What valid points? “Atheists are lying” is not a good point because IT DID NOT HAPPEN.

Let me know what you make a good point and I’ll dig out my 40-year-old response.

Until then, I’ll just laugh at your butt hurt.

The “go back to statistics 101 poster” has valid points. None of you wants to address them. You just want to spew childish insults. Disgusting for a 40-year-old, if you really are. How’s your parents basement?

What are those valid points? How Christians scored better than atheists on one question?

The study was NOT misrepresented at all.

Logic and facts are not important =- it's all about faith.

Apparently this IS true.

'China putting minority Muslims in 'concentration camps,' U.S. says

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States accused China on Friday of putting well more than a million minority Muslims in “concentration camps,” in some of the strongest U.S. condemnation to date of what it calls Beijing’s mass detention of mostly Muslim Uighur minority and other Muslim groups.

I wonder how knowledgeable Christians are about current-day events? There is an idea for the next Pew poll...

No explaining away called for. Countries can do as they like. CHina is officially atheist but allows its people to practice other religions - and they do. There are many "folk" relgions there. The country is also 15.87% Buddhist and 2.53% Christian. for more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_China

That’s funny you think China’s communist state atheist regime is allowing its people to practice religion. Is that what you think folks are doing in concentration camps? Why don’t you move there?

Those who have been to China know full well that people practice religion-- and talk about it openly.

WHy not move there? I don't speak Chinese and am not interested in learning. Would move to Europe first.

That's why the Chinese are rounding up Muslims in Holocaust numbers and sticking them in camps? China is very much in the religious persecution game. Read the news. Learn more about news here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News

While “outsider” religions, like Islam, are banned and persecuted, Xi might be softening on traditional religions because he thinks they can help the party.

I shared the Reuters article because it was more succinct. It is still true today.

Xi is using traditional religions to exclude foreign influences.

What is your point? Is this acceptable to you? They see religion as a threat to the state.

"upwards of 3 million Muslim Uighurs have been sent to “counter-terrorism” or “re-education” camps, where they are tortured into renouncing their religion and forced to recite state propaganda" - from your link
