| Actually, no time to read the whole article but right now there is a lot of persecution of Copts in Egypt. There was also Sudan, then Sri Lanka recently. Historically, definitely not, but I think some pps here are focusing on the US, and not on the third world. |
Nope. Just pointing out that Christians are not The Most Persecuted Group, hands down, unqualified. However, some terrible things have been happening around the world to Christians lately. There has been better coverage of it in non-US media, although I've been hearing a lot on NPR and some right-wing radio shows. |
| Jews are the most persecuted by far |

Today? Right now? What are the statistics for Jewish and Christians religious attacks in the last ten years? What are the numbers of Christians that left Iraq or dissipated? I don't know, I am asking if anyone has these numbers for the last 10 years. People often forget that million of Slavs were in concentration camps, but their number doesn't reach anything close to the Jewish Holocaust. Are we also counting Stalin that killed over 25 million people, predominantly Orthodox and Jewish? |
This sort of trending to off-topic discussion (no offense) is exactly why I tried to clarify from the beginning that OP had spoken too broadly, given the cited source. The BBC article is about recent violent acts against Christians in specific areas of the world. It made no claims about which is the most persecuted group, ever (unlike the implication of the thread title). That's worth talking about, and it's worth staying on topic. |
In the US and Europe it’s absolutely Jews on a per capita basis. |

I agree. Op posted a very misleading title. Nobody in their right mind would agree that Christians are the most persecuting group...ever. I am from Europe and while people talk about the Holocaust, most seems to forget 2 millennia of of mass persecution of Jews, century after century. |

A note about Jewish persecution: most of us live in Israel, Europe, and the US. Only 3 million of the 14 million Jews in the world live outside the US and Israel.
Other than Israel we are persecuted where we live. Places like Sri Lanka don’t have many Jews in part because we were killed or kicked out. So when you see other religious groups being persecuted more in some places than us it’s often because we’re just not present there, often as a result of discrimination. It doesn’t mean we are there and being treated well. |
Exactly. And that is important not because anyone is vying for the most-persecuted title, but in order to understand the context of the article first posted by the OP. |
+1. Very misleading. |
Ironically where pretty much all Jews live, except for Israeli Jews who of course are not persecuted as Jews. |
Thanks for the info. Clearly, the US and Europe are a small part of the world. You need to just google persecution of Copts to see staggering numbers. As usual, the West doesn't county Orthodox Christians as Christians. Sad really. |
Can you provide numbers that show they’re persecuted on a per capita basis more than Jews? |
