It's a horrible, heartbreaking story. His name was Kalief Browder. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2014/10/06/before-the-law https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/kalief-browder-1993-2015 |
Wow it’s like we don’t live in a consequence-free world |
The shit has truly hit the fan |
To be fair the guy had sold his interest some time ago . That article is a bit misleading but it’s fox so there’s that |
no, they were clear that it was a licensing deal and that they stopped actually working directly with him about a year ago. so there's that. but a licensing deal is very lucrative - so it's a pretty bid deal. |
So the daughters go scurrying away and leaving USC saying they will be bullied - I say this is to avoid the humiliation of being expelled. Although USC (University of Spoiled Children) is living up to its name! The USC involvement is quite deep.Lori lost her job, her husband's brand is distancing themselves... so GOOD- if this happened to any one of us(in any way- taking $100 deduction too much - as opposed to the "contribution" they made for 500K which they wrote off, bribing etc.), I guarantee you we would be in jail. These people will go away with no jail time.. a piddly fine which is a drop in the bucket for them. Yes, shame- but ditsy daughter will still prevail for the kids following her who aren't at that stage of getting it.. I just hope the sponsorships dry up permanently. This is HORRIBLE for any child who is trying to just make their own life without the $$ like these people have. |
No words, that is a tragic story. |
It’s enraging. |
This scandal is literally proof that you have no idea what kind of life these women lead when they aren't playing a character. They're trash. I guarantee they didn't just wake up that one day and do something wrong or bad. People who do crap like this do whatever benefits them when no one is looking. |
Except in this case, they have her recorded multiple times admitting to and participating in these crimes. She's a criminal!!!!!!!! |
Same. Throw the book at these entitled brats and their parents. You know how you avoid prison? Don't commit crimes!! |
Will she and her DH and others actually serve time? That is what matters. Serve time, because house arrest and all that other BS is just yet another example of privilege getting away with everything. I am an immigrant, my DH is American and I was jumping with joy when DD was accepted to UMD and we chose other instate school for DS as we couldn't afford Delaware even or Boulder as out of state. And DS was offered legit spot on DI teams but they didn't offer athletic scholarship, he was good, but not good enough for a scholarship. Even if they thought we could afford out of state, we know we can't, no way we can afford 50K in Boulder yearly with 180K or even now over 200K income. I want them in prison. And my DD was offered Dean Scholar at another private college, and 23K in scholarship, which still makes it over 40K for DH and me and crushing her by telling her, sorry we just can't afford it. And out story is nothing compared to struggles of many families like mentioned above. In fact we are privileged so much as it is! The way I tell it to DD is, UMD is good enough because it is what we can afford and stop being a whiny DMV brat because it is an awesome school. |
Well..almost every star on hallmark has a "clean wholesome image" for the most part. This is not surprising at all. |
Generally, probably not. |
Olivia Jade bites the hand that bribes her college - lol
