They were being cheap. A new building or professorship would be millions, they thought they could do this for 500k.

I honestly think that both parents were too dumb to know how to do it properly. And both daughters seem dumb af, too, from what I've seen of their YouTube videos.

My cousin is a waitress in Bel Air where they used to live and served Lori several times. She reported that both Lori and her husband (I forget his name) were very good tippers - one year before the holidays, Lori tipped my cousin 100% of the bill when she was dining with her daughters.

I worked in alumni donations for my university and a $500k donation could get you a good bit of sway. I know that a donation of half that amount opened up a spot on the football team for an alum's mediocre son. Millions usually secured multiple admissions (like an alum donating a few million to ensure his grandkids were admitted years later).

And their dad was not just Arnold but also the gov of California. They didn't need their parents to make a call they just had to be moderately ok to get in.

I have worked in higher education admissions in the past and I agree $500k would go plenty far at most schools. They were just stupid - they bribed an individual rather than bribing - er donating to - the school itself.

Given the cost of tuition these days $500k seems low to “donate” to guarantee admission. I would think it would need to be at least $1m?

Granted, I’ve never worked in admissions, but it seems like many Cali tech folks would have that ($500k) - making it hard to meet the demand or ability to get your family on the admissions development list.

Yeah, I'd be willing to bet money that the arnold pulled strings for his kids.

The plot thickens.

Lori's daughter (Olivia Jade) was roommates with Joe Buck's daughter at USC...and when the story broke/the feds were closing in on her mother, Olivia was on the yacht of Rick Caruso (LA mayor candidate/real estate billionaire) whose daughter she was friends with.

The whole school seems obnoxious.
