I call BS on this post. |
It is hard to believe Berkeley with under 1400 |
| From what I understand Berkeley is not releasing until the 28th. It's a top choice for my DD and she's not heard. She found out tonight she got into USC. Rejected from UCLA. |
| PP - 1580 SAT |
| CMU hasn’t released either |
Congrats on USC. 1580 means she is a smart cookie. Hope she lands at her top choice. |
Are you really this much of an idiot IRL? |
EXACTLY! I think it shows that the kids are smart, saving money and using an agreeable support system. I am proud of our children and the schools they attend but I would not have minded at all if at least one had stayed here and lived at home. We have some great schools in the DMV! |

| I'm going to show this thread to my thirteen year old son to scare him straight. He wants to go to Stanford and thinks he can balance an acceptance with his fortnite schedule. |
| Please don’t do that, PP. Kids don’t need to be stressing about college at 13. (And parental controls to shut down his WiFi access are a better way to limit screen time.) |
LOL! We had to have a talk with our son last year to let him know that there was no scholarship program at Fortnite University. He seemed intent on getting one. 1240 SAT, 3.5 weighted Accepted at JMU, Longwood, Radford, small privates in MD Going to Univ of Louisville with $21K in merit & grant aid. He’s a great kid and excited. And we’re happy to pay under $16K. So glad this process is over. |
pp here- I was kidding, but he does need to get a little more engaged in his future. I don't want to derail- these are impressive stats. I am reading with interest. I went to a state school and graduated without debt. I was able to take on some debt for grad school, but was also much more employable--after a few years in some less than stellar jobs, I started making plenty of money to rapidly pay down my debt. It's my two cents- my DS is really smart, but I will discourage him from taking on much/if any debt as an undergrad. College admittance is hard, but so is the job market. |
You jest, yet I saw an article in the NYT a couple months ago about "e-sports" scholarships. Glad your son had good luck on acceptances! |
