“GAMECHANGER”? Really? |
Thanks. It appears that NoVA is at the front lines of the ECNL v. DA war because USSDA opted to put a U13 trial program here and nowhere else. The only other market with the U13 test is Texas where ECNL is taking the same approach in its tactics. |
Boys DA Expansion for 2018-19
We are very excited to inform you that US Soccer has awarded ASA an expansion into the Boys U15 age group for the 2018-19 season. We now can confirm that we will field boys’ teams in the U12, U13, U14 and U15 age groups in the upcoming soccer year. This is a big step forward for our club and puts us on the path to grow into a full Development Academy through the addition of one age group in each future year. This award is a positive indication of the quality, hard work and dedication that we all put in on a daily basis. Our motivation and objective is to have the best Development Academy program in the DMV area and one of the top academies in United States. US Soccer has been very impressed with the program philosophy and methodology that we are currently implementing. Our future will still remain somewhat dependent on our performance year to year, but we now have a clear path to Full Development Academy status. The schedule for teams is as follows: 2018-19: U12, U13, U14 and U15 2019-20: U12, U13, U14, U15 and U16/17 2020-21: U12, U13, U14, U15, U16/17 and U18/19 Girls DA Acceptance US Soccer has also awarded Development Academy status for our girls program to compete in the U13, U14 and U15 age groups starting in the 2018-19 season. Like the boys, the pathway is to grow one age group every year. |
All 3 age groups, plus adding in future years like Boys. |
Most of this discussion has been focused on the recruiting age players, and this DA announcement does nothing for them. What is Arlington telling their U15 and up girls that will be too old for their limited DA next year? Are they banking on National League again for those teams? |
Spirit for girls. DCU for boys. |
Yes, instead of any player movement out of ASA for ECNL, McLean and Brad. Rd. zips heading into Arlington next year for Girls DA if they want 1st Tier. Traffic patterns work too. Maybe some head for Spirit, but that pattern may not be as easy. I don't think anyone expected ASA to get more then a token 13U. Yes this is huge. What don't you get? Or, are you just anti-ASA? |
So they're telling those girls to leave for Spirit? I assumed they would want to keep good players at the older ages. I'm not asking what their options are, I'm asking what is Arlington trying to sell those players to retain them. |
That would presume that Spirit, VDA or FCV was littered with ASA players but they aren’t. There wasn’t a mass exodus of Arlington players. The only thing that really changes for ASA is a patch and your bill. |
This. But do we really expect that the Arlington DA teams in those three age groups to bring new players on? Won’t it be mostly the existing red teams? |
What evidence supports the belief that ECNL is beneath Girls DA? The Girls DA is sound in theory but the reality in Year 1 is that the best players are not there yet. PP keep referring to ECNL as 2nd class. Is that perception - Boys DA is strong so by default Girls DA is also strong- or is that reality??? |
do your due diligence. ecnl coaches know da will win. do you have any friends that coach ecnl and will tell u the truth over a beer? u really think ECNL will be #1 and da #2??? laughable. Bwahhh ha ha ha. look around the US. u r late to this debate and a rabble rouser and just are pissed off. |
I think it is just parents of DA that want to think that league is better. We should leave it up to the clubs, regardless of the league they play in to develop players. This country is too big to have one top league or one development model. There could be multiple top leagues but we need clubs to develop the players. Why do we have to do shit that is so backwards in this country? Does anyone know what league Borussia Dortmund youth play in ? No, we just know they develop players and thats why Pulisic went there. He didn't say I should go play for any team in the German Federation supported league. He knew he needed to go play for a specific club because of how they develop players. |
Preach. I don’t give a f@ck what league my U10 and U13 (12-year old) kids play in. It does NOT matter. Their individual development is all that has ever mattered. It’s certainly not Club, league or team specific and it’s ever-changing. People are worried about the wrong things. That is why the US will forever suck at soccer. |
^^ Btw, there is not a single US Club in the area I would leave a player’s development to.... |
