+1. I thought that's what most people would do if they had manners.

That’s different. It was a co-worker.

If somebody I hated or caused me harm/grief in the past and I wasn’t in friendly or speaking terms and never planned to be—seeing their condolences very soon after a loved one’s death when I knew it wasn’t sincere would cause me further pain. Not something to inflict on the grieving.

I totally disagree. I would be touched and consider it an olive branch, of sorts.

Are you always this naive?

NP. She must be.

This thread is a bunch of nasty, fake mean girls. SJP was live on BFF Andy Cohen’s show doing her gee gosh golly routine the day before Cattrall used social media to send an alert about her missing brother (that’s for the “posting on SM is sooooo tacky!!” crowd.). That’s also why it seems reasonable to me that Cattrall issued a statement about what happened to her brother, and thanks for some condolences. And it’s also why SJP is trash and wannabe slick for posting “Dearest Kim” when she was fresh out from acting out her feud with Cohen dressed, wig and all, as Cattrall, to AGAIN be the victim in their feud. That is so crass and manipulative as is trashing Cattrall. When you’ve públically and gleefully trashed someone on live TV 24 hours before they endure a tragedy, maybe leave them the hell alone? Performative tragedy vulturing is what shitty people do. Unsurprisingly it’s a popular option for think-they’re-classy SATC fans.

What in the world are you talking about? When Andy Cohen mentioned Kim Cattrall not returning being the reason SATC 3 wasn't happened, SJP didn't respond to the comment at all. The scene they did wasn't something they made up to make fun of Cattrall, it was part of the script from a S5 episode (she was laughing at herself and the show as well). Third, when they later returned to talking about the movie again, they talked about other casting options (something Cattrall had already endorsed months before), and the only reference to Cattrall was mentioning how perfect she was in the Samantha role, which SJP agreed with. At no point in the episode did she speak a negative word about Cattrall. Side note, they're all all tipsy if not drunk while filiming WWHL, so if anything SJP's comments there were even more "honest" and unscripted than in her other interviews. And yet she still didn't trash Cattrall. I have no trouble believing that they weren't friends, and it's entirely possible SJP doesn't particularly care for Cattrall, but if that's true, if anything SJP has been that much classier not dragging her through the mud every time she's invited to.

As for the timing relative to Cattrall posting about her brother being missing, I'm not really sure the connection you're drawing there. The episode aired four days before Cattrall posted that her brother was missing, five days before she posted that he had died. Was SJP supposed to know that was going to happen when she filmed the show?

Some of these posters have really gone off the deep end, inventing ways in which SJP has "wronged" KC. Who knows what went on during the show, but SJP has been nothing but classy in these last few weeks/incidents. She really hasn't done anything wrong, though the KC fanatics would love to paint her that way.

Exactly. When someone dies, the *only* thing to do is express condolences. Period.

You can't equate this to Average Joe workplace stuff. You just can't. SJP has tried to make Cattral look bad publicly/in the press/in the industry for years. She went out of her way to drag the CHARACTER of Samantha through the mud as well. As an executive producer, she did ridiculous things to Samantha.

Anyway, if SJP had reached out to Cattral *privately,* we might not have heard a peep about this. But she didn't. She freaking Instagrammed. It's just so declasse.

Then surely you consider Cattrall "declasse" for instagramming the news of her brother's suicide? Who puts that kind of thing on IG?? SJP was only responding in kind, though I do agree it would have been better for her to send her condolences privately. At any rate, she's not at fault here.

What is true is that the show and the movies wouldn't have been anything worth mentioning with Kim. SJP was supposed to be the star but Kim was. Kim made the show. Is it interesting that even SJP won't consider another movie without Kim. That says everything.

This is a personal opinion/preference thing. For you, Samantha made the show. Other people tolerated Samantha's character while enjoying other characters more. Kim Cattrall was valuable to the franchise because of the fans who did view her character as key, but she wasn't the linchpin for everyone.

+1 I was not a fan of Samantha's and she did not make the show for me.

+2
Her character was always so over the top sexy and horny. It got old.

Nixon also reached out via IG as well and Kim responded back to her. Sooo...I guess she is déclassé as well? However, we do not if either of them reached out privately or not. I am going to guess neither did. Either way it was still a very nice gesture of both ladies.

Nixon also CALLED: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/kim-cattrall-sarah-jessica-parker-cynthia-nixon-sex-and-the-city-brothers-death-social-media-fight-a8206086.html

Assuming that she did, that means Kim Cattrall went out of her way to make a point on instagram that Nixon's condolences were appreciated even though that's apparently not how they were expressed. She was going out of her way to rub it in SJP's face, which is just trashy. Especially after Cattrall dragged her own mother into it in such childish fashion - "See, SJP, even my mom doesn't like you!" I don't think I've heard that since middle school.

THIS. Very childish, even if she was grieving.

She's grieving for ffs and SJP does seem pretty obsessed with projecting a nice girl persona. She should have expressed her condolences privately if they were sincere!

Where is the IG post from SJP that is as rude at KC?

"Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother. Xx."

The issue is that while I'm totally okay with believing that SJP is fake or that they have bad blood between them, Kim's response just makes Kim look bad.

This. Kim should have just completely ignored SJP's very gracious post, because she's only made herself look bad.

"Very gracious post" HAHAHA. One line on an IG post is your idea of very gracious? Wow, lucky Kim!

And if SJP hadn't publicly commented at all, everyone would be calling her out for not expressing her condolences. Honestly, she's damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. And don't pretend that's not true.

I think Kim broke and it's understandable. She's in pain and her reaction was very real. Fakers like SJP is always want to be the center of attention. I'm glad she got put in her place for just a second, but i'm sure she's basking in the glow of her "poor me" attention.

I have no idea what you're talking about. SJP has never seemed fake to me. It's so weird the spin you people are putting on her.

But this entire thread is about how SJP was so classless to post that one line. Now you want her to do more?

Look, obviously their relationship is strained. The gracious thing would not have been to post a flipping IG comment, which is about the bare minimum one can do, and instead perhaps send some lovely flowers with a sincere note. Or even just a personal note for that matter. If someone I had bad blood with posted that to me I'd prolly tell them to f off as well. It's tacky and insincere, not to mention just being showy for the audience for someone you know doesn't like you.

If KC meant what she said to SJP on instagram, a note or flowers wouldn't have been welcome either. She didn't want SJP to acknowledge it at all. Stop pretending there was some "right" way SJP could have sent her condolences without upsetting KC.

+1
If SJP had sent KC a private note and flowers, I have no doubt KC would have taken to Instagram to publicly chastise her for doing so. SJP can't win.

What if your coworkers leaked fake stories to newspapers about you being greedy and holding up the work?

Um, how do you know these were fake stories? Another costar verified that KC had completely held up the movie with her negotiations.

Kim Cattrall wanted to do a SATC movie when the series ended. The movie was delayed. She asked for more money. It was leaked to the press that she was "demanding and a diva" and she was the reason for the holdup on the movie. She deserved to be paid exactly what SJP was paid for SATC. Full stop.

Fast forward to the second movie; rinse and repeat. They try to publicly malign her in the press because she wants more money; money that she deserves.

Third movie... Kim Cattrall says "I don't want to do a third movie." Now all of a sudden it is in the press that she "has all these demands. she wants money. they have to fund her projects, etc..." She goes on Piers Morgan to refute that report and state that her only demand was that "she didn't want to do a third movie." Why take the time to tarnish her reputation by leaking stories in the press? Why not just make the third movie and move on without Kim Cattrall? Why continue to ask her to do the SATC movies if she wants more money and if she's a diva?

SJP et al are fully aware that Kim Cattrall IS SATC; without her the franchise isn't as successful and the movies do not generate as much money, etc... So instead of risking failure, they publicly shame her, put future opportunities for her in jeopardy, and try to turn everyone against her. And based on the stories of Queen B SJP's behavior on set during the series, all of this is believable.

Kim Cattrall's IG post was basically a nail in the SATC coffin and a big FU to SJP so she will go away and leave her alone for good. At 61, she's tired of giving phucks about what people think; especially when she knows that SJP was a bitch to her and is probably behind all of the bad press that she is getting. #TeamKim

You are my soulmate. I absolutely agree with your every word.

This isn't some petty high school feud. This is about SJP leaking stories to the press and intentionally vilifying Cattrall, blaming her for a third movie not being made (won't somebody think of the fans!). SJP is a passive-aggressive phony who knows full well that her anti-Kim campaign is likely to damage Cattrall's career and livelihood. Aside from the movies being horrible, they can't make another one without Samantha. No one wants to see a 50-something year old Carrie bouncing around like Betsy Johnson. It's tired, but SJP doesn't care, and she has no range. She wants the paycheck, and Kim has repeatedly prevented SJP from cashing in.

If someone I had worked with for years dragged my name through the mud and threatened my career, I probably would have lost my cool, too. If SJP cared, she would have picked up the phone. Cattrall is in shock and in mourning; I'll give her a pass.

Meh. You and the PP seem to be lionizing Kim Cattrall. How do you even know SJP leaked stories to the press?

Samantha was never my favorite character, and it's utterly ridiculous that you're making her out to be everyone's favorite. Clearly, she was yours. But speak for yourself.

I'm sorry, Kim Cattrall IS SATC??? Um, no. Not even close. She was a caricature, the caricature, of the show. Look, I liked Samantha but she did not carry that show.

You posted twice to make the same point that a gang on the outs with one woman means she’s by definition wrong. Because “sides” are legit if “everyone” is on one side.

Adults posting to support a bullying instinct are repellant.

DP, but how on earth would you know if PP "posted twice to make the same point"? You do realize there are plenty of us here who feel the way PP does, right? You sound like a spoiled toddler throwing a tantrum. Talk about "repellant."

I saw the WWHL and had a completely different take on it. I thought SJP handled it well, saying that was not how she recalled it, not that KC was wrong or a liar or whatever.

SJW put on a wig to look like KC??????

No.

Andy Cohen was pretending to be Samantha in a skit of him "auditioning" to be the new Samantha. It was completely lighthearted and not a dig at KC AT ALL.

Andy Cohen? You can’t be serious. He has a PHD in passive aggressive “mean girl” behavior.

Of course they're not taking her side. She won't do the movie and therefore the rest of them won't get paid. Have you seen Willie Garson or Evan Handler in anything other than SATC? Nope. They'll drag her because she's "taking" money from them. If these people were smart they would kiss her @ss. She doesn't need SATC but the rest of them do and they hate her for it.

I hated the movies and pretend that they don't exist, but I really don't get the big deal. If they want to make another one, just write Samantha out. It's not that hard.
