Remember when 38-year-old Jerry Seinfeld dated a 17-year-old high schooler?

But he was almost 40 years old and one of the biggest celebrities in the world dating a high school senior!

Did he give $ to her parents?

Looking at the picture in OP, what strikes me is that she looks looks like the product of a photoshop app that changed his gender and age. Gross. He dated the underage opposite gender version of his own face.

Shoshana’s parents approved of the relationship and gave permission for her to date him. Jerry and Shoshana claim that they didn’t actually start dating until a few months after they met when she turned 18. No one really believes it, but if that’s the story they both put out, you pretty much have to accept it.

You really think they would care??

Um, yes? Didn’t he also move her out to LA and paid her college tuition at UCLA so he could control her and service him? He groomed a child and then took over her life — at least for a few years.

This accusing everything of being “grooming” is getting silly. It’s not like he met her when she was 14 and “groomed” her for years. They met towards the end of her senior year in HS. I seem to recall that she started college on the east coast, and later on transferred to LA to be close to him, and yes he did pay for her tuition. That’s not “grooming”, that’s having a rich and famous boyfriend.

What a dumb, anti woman thread.

Women get to choose who they want to date.

Is a 17yo a woman?

She turned 18 a couple of months after they met. That’s considered a woman, yes.

It’s not a child.
. It’s an adolescent.

She turned 18 soon after meeting him. 18 year olds are allowed to make independent decisions about their life, including choosing to get married.

Technically 19 is an “adolescent” but it’s still an adult.

Thank God things are changing.

This isn't "BS," she consented. Meaning that there was most likely no force or pressure to make her do as such. It's most likely that she accepted because of the fat stacks that Seinfeld made. It's also most likely the same reason that her parents allowed it.

She's in her 40s now and still seems untraumatized. I think it's time to let this go. It was a different time.

The power dynamic? Are you for real? She was sucking cash out of him, plain and simple.

Seriously. She got way more out of the relationship than he did.

Hate to break it to you, but men find young women to be attractive. The reason rich men date young women is because they can. Most young, hot women wouldn’t date men who are 15 years, older than them who are average Joes - but rich, celebrities hold a lot of appeal.

Not saying I had any interest in 17yos when I was that age or find it anything less than creepy, but the power dynamic would have been way more out of balance if she as a non-celeb had also been 39.

I’d love to read a deep dive into this.
