Not factual. Lowering minimum wage??? LOL. |
LOLOL! You are right!! |
The idea that white people don't have a problem with culture and education is making me laugh a little bit harder. High school and college drop outs, unwed pregnancy, intergenerational poverty, domestic violence, addiction, chronic disease, chronic unemployment, mental illness - all social ills suffered in much higher numbers by white people. Maybe other races and cultures aren't your problem; maybe it's Darwinism. But that's not really funny, is it? |
Well of course the absolute numbers will be greater among whites because there are more whites. But proportionately, most of what you've listed is proportionately much higher among blacks - particularly unwed pregnancy, chronic unemployment, and domestic violence. (Black women are at a much higher risk of being murdered by their husbands than white woman, for example, and the unemployment rate among young black males is 50% in some cities.) |

One reason these problems continue to get worse, not better, with each generation is stigmatizing them as someone else's problem rather than as a problem that can be addressed and mitigated. Just a thought. The opioid epidemic is only one example but it epitomizes how detrimental that line of thinking can be. Stigmatizing a problem can help it flourish. That goes for poverty, addiction, abuse in all its forms and whatever else you think exists solely in the realm of [fill in the blank] minority. I don't know if it's irony or justice or just bad luck but opioids are killing white people at a very steady clip that's only getting faster. Maybe one reason this is happening is a steadfast adherence to some magical thinking that white people are better or somehow more resistant to bad judgement and illicit behavior. But the facts are clear: white people have much bigger problems than black or hispanic or muslim people. If that's your focus, things are going to continue to go downhill. |
Let's take a look at some facts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/66/wr/mm6626a4.htm Start paying attention to real issues. |
yes, opioid abuse is a real problem among some whites. But how does bringing that up help the issues that are much more prevalent among blacks - skyrocketing out-of-wedlock births, generational poverty and chronic unemployment, domestic abuse, and so forth? Are these not "real issues" that blacks should focus on improving? Saying "well, whites have a problem with opioids more than blacks" does not excuse, defend, or help with the problems blacks have. |
I don't know. Let's reverse some of the qualifiers in your post and see if that helps you with an answer. yes, out-of-wedlock births, generational poverty and chronic unemployment, etc. is a real problem among some blacks. But how does bringing that up help the issues that are much more prevalent among whites- substance abuse, addiction, overdose deaths and so forth? Are these not "real issues" that whites should focus on improving? Saying "well, blacks have a problem with poverty and crime more than whites" does not excuse, defend, or help with the problems whites have. |
Were you the one who said that whites have bigger problems than blacks? I was responding to that statement to show how ridiculous it is. (It's that "false equivalency" I always hear about.) Other than the single issue you raised (drug addition and variations of it in some segments of the population - and I personally know NOBODY), that simply isn't true. Whites have higher levels of education, higher incomes, higher net worths, better overall health and longevity, much fewer out-of-wedlock births*, less domestic abuse, and less unemployment. You are trying to say that blacks and whites have "equal" problems, and it just isn't true. *That's the #1 problem - three out of four black babies. Correct that, and the other problems, like generational poverty, lack of education, unemployment, lower incomes, etc. - will improve dramatically. |
I never even heard of Frontgate. I looked it up, and it's some shopping site. Is that what you meant? |
Above PP - you are correct. Obama tried to highlight the issue of the defunct family and was chastised. Correct that issue and the other issues greatly diminish |

I don't think marriage is a requirement at all, but all woman should be financially secure and have a support system in place before having children IMO. It's a shame the current administration is slashing programs that can help with education and reproductive choices. If anything we need MORE of these programs. |
Speaking of families...
Drug Addiction Epidemic Creates Crisis in Foster Care The epidemic is also breaking budgets for state and county jails. If Congress cuts Medicaid and makes it a block grant for states, care for addicted inmates is going to suck up all the funds. |
