southerners aren't the ones agitating for elite north east and west coast privates to drop AA. I highly doubt the PP is a southerner. |
| Well, NE and West Coast Privates are ... private. They can do what they want. But, we don't want facts to actually enter this conversation, do we? |
I wonder how much money goes to these schools from the government in the form of student loans and research dollars. |

Federal and Harvard Loan Programs
You are not expected to take out loans as part of your financial aid package. Our aid packages are designed to cover your financial need without additional borrowing. In fact, most of our students graduate debt-free. However, you may choose to pursue loans to help cover your student or family contribution. Same for other Ivys. Getting rid of student loans will hurt mostly upper middle class kids that do not qualify for aid. May not be so easy or beneficial to US to take the research money away from experts. Again that is something that will hurt the upper middle class. Lower income and wealthy people are not impacted by federal funds. Frankly, its not clear the school will care. There just will be less of the unprotected class of upper middle class students. |
actually they can't if the full weight of title vi is brought upon them. say goodbye to any federal research dollars and grants. H and S are the only two schools that MAY still say fine due to the size of the endowment. every other private would fall in line under that threat. |
| Yea, dream on! |
Keep dreaming, honey. |
Universities will lose federal funds for non-compliance so that is a big deal. Everything (almost) comes down to money.
