Nobody wants easy grades, just recognition that NCS is tough.

My DD is absolutely eviscerating her school, no, not an Ivy but smaller school that's well regarded. Hell, if it was up to us she would've gone to St U. and saved the money. She is incredibly well prepared both academically and emotionally. My DD was squarely in the middle and I'm glad the grades didn't come easy.

At last, we have reached the dark heart of the NCS mom . . . "eviscerating" . .. what kind of person thinks in these terms?

I doubt someone like you could find anything positive to say about an NCS mom. You are sad.

Personally, I'd've used 'disemboweling.' Just a gut preference.

In the spirit of the Cathedral "Crucify."

Newsflash -- Many school in this area are tough. And, yes, while all students at NCS, Sidwell, Holton, etc. may have incredibly tough English classes that are not listed as Honors or AP, there are kids at Whitman, TJ, Wilson, (pick almost any school), taking just as punishing a workload as a Cathedral girl.

Nicely done.

Pick almost any school? Do ya think? And English isn't important?

Maybe this will help end the back and forth speculation of college placement, scores, how rigorous, the non-exciting reception but invested interest in educating young women...

Saw that link. That's great. 2310 SAT and B average from NCS with an 800 math level 2 (female STEM?) did nothing in my situation. Apparently podunk Bs are as valuable as those from NCS. As such, I'm letting you know that if you or your kid is not planning on hitting the books very hard, it might not be worth the 40k a year if Ivy or Williams or Harvey Mudd is what your'e after.

Even if the kid's test scores are really good.

Noone at NCS has ever given my daughter the impression that she does not have to work hard. Just the opposite. College placement was not a main factor when she applied but a good, solid, education and feeling totally prepared for college was a huge factor. Along with opportunities in singing, theater, art, and sports that she was not getting in public school. Going to a great college was the logical outcome of all her hard work.

Can I ask what type of schools you/your DC got into?

NCS is a solid school with strong academics. College Guidance is going the extra mile to place the top girls and will file paperwork for the rest. No offense, that's just what they do.

Wait listed at a school very similar to the University of Missouri. Rejected everywhere that would be considered even slightly selective.
