| We were disappointed in the NCS revisit day, it truly was just another shadow day and didn't provide enough, and in some cases no, time to interact with other current or prospective parents, faculty/administration, students. |
| As an alum, I'm glad to hear NCS doesn't waste money on swag for admitted students. |
We got a call from a current parent offering to talk one on one. If you didn't get a call, I'm sure admissions would be happy to put you in touch with someone. They encouraged everyone to reach out with any questions. |
| Frankly, I love NCS, but I have to agree with the previous posted. it was disorganized, confusing, and underwhelming. It seemed as though they through it together that day. My daughter loved it, but as a parent, I expected more especially since people had not sent back contracts yet and this was the NCS time to put its best foot forward. Maybe next year they will hold it in the upper school and add some more class. The admissions letter was beautiful, but the reception was haphazard. I have to agree that all of that talk of homework wreaked of unhappiness and the statement about we frolic in a grass field and learn to avoid tourists was silly and underscores the need for a protected playground space for lower school girls. |
+1 I accepted admission and am confident we will be happy with the choice (picked NCS over Holton) but the reception was underwhelming. |
Stop, this is a joke? |
No. I'm serious. I read it here on the board. Admittedly I could be confusing it with a different school. |
We didn't have stars in our acceptance letter or see water bottles labeled Holton Arms. They had huge containers of filtered water with lemons, cumcumbers etc... with spigots to pour into glasses. |
My Holton letter had star confetti in it as well... |
| We are at NCS and frankly I could use a little glitter! And so could my daughter for that matter!!!! |
Please elaborate! You're the first actual NCS parent who I've ever heard have a complaint. |
|
Then you have not been reading the NCS threads!! Lol!!!
|
It seems like most parents say their girls love it and non-parents are always throwing around "intense" and "competitive". What's been your experience? |
As a current NCS parent I think you will be very happy with the school. The reception may have been underwhelming (esp compared to some who give a party atmosphere to welcome families) but the school is amazing day to day. Not sure what the homework talk was about but sounds like it was a student? my 3rd grader in public school complains about half an hour of homework at night so take it with a grain of salt - all kids complain about homework at one point or another. There are homework time limits and block scheduling at NCS and my DD has never been overwhelmed on this front (ever). Welcome! |
