There are 11 seniors on Landon's Varsity team. Gonzaga has 17 seniors. Not thinking that is really significant, but it doesn't really matter...Gonzaga has more talented players on all levels. The Gonzaga "Freshman" team (entirely made up of freshman) beat Landon's JV team last week (half sophomores/half freshmen). The GZ Freshman team has lost only one game so far (to McDonough), and all the games were against teams made up of sophomores. With a team like that, I would say Gonzaga has a very strong future. I think Gonzaga as a whole attracts better players and gets better coaching. |
Gonzaga has several advantages:
1. More boys than any other school (and compared to most schools, 2x-4x as many boys) 2. Cost is as much as 2x cheaper 3. Excellent coaching It is a perfect storm. In pretty much every sport, Gonzaga SHOULD be dominant given those advantages. |
I don't think Gonzagas freshman team has lost to an area team in years. Hard to compare Gonzagas freshman team to any other area JV team.
mater Dei pipeline has swung back to GP the past two years and Paul VA is attracting more Catholic kids from NOVA and Episcopal HS is starting to offer free rides to other kids living in NOVA who also might have ended up at Gonzaga. Gonzaga will drop off significantly next year and any avid lacrosse fan knows this. They will always field deep and athletic teams and also have fantastic cosching. Gonzagas season also ended yesterday. Look at their remaining schedule and it's a cake walk. 7x WCAC champs ans swpt the IAC in March and April. Please set up a game in May that matches up the IAC champion vs the WCAC winner (assuming Gonzaga) |
PVI ?!?!? That's been he narrative for years now. They don't have a problem attracting kids, they have a problem not sucking at lacrosse. Episcopal I know little about except that it is a very expensive and very small all boarding student school. It seems odd to me that they would be out 'offering free rides' to local kids for lacrosse. That isn't he business prep schools are in if 5 of 60 spots a year are unpaid to be tops in one sport. Landon just sit as good today as their historicals have been and they won't be like that any time soon. Several of their top players are seniors and their underclasses has two very gifted star attack players. After that they are a program in the herd. I'd agree costs do matter. STA is really expensive too, over $40K for a day prep and DC ain't Wall Street or Silicon Valley. The preps tha a cheap Jesuits like Zaga do have a sustainable edge since they are half the cost. Casey O'Neil has also pretty much jetted away as the top local coach as well. It is hard to see any IAC program knocking them off for the years to come. |
What is the video? Where is it posted? Was it in a game? |
The GONZAGA FRESHMEN team has more than a few boys who SHOULD BE SOPHOMORES and would be at many other schools. Call it a Freshmen team all you want, the rest of us know damn well how many team members are boys who were held back at least a year. What a joke. |
PVI will be fine. |
Gonzaga has depth at all levels and excellent coaching. |
Who wins in game between Gonzaga JV vs Freshmen? |
That's for sure, most of the GONZAGA FRESHMEN lacrosse players should all really be SOPHOMORES in highschool by now. |
The Gonzaga freshman team is always better. Because you are a freshman and don't make Varsity, you play on the frosh team. The best from that class then will make Varsity the next year and the lesser ones are on JV. |
You have no idea what you are talking about. Landon's senior class is very weak, but their junior and soph classes are strong. They have kids other than Buller and Epstein. Gonzaga has a terrific 2016 class, but this team will be down next year. Stating that "hard to see any IAC program knocking them off for the years to come" is ridiculous. I would agree that would apply to the WCAC, which is far inferior to the IAC. |
It's almost as if there are no IAC kids who reclassified in 8th grade. Except it isn't. I think the point is Gonzaga's 16 year old freshman team is better than the Landon, Bullis or Prep teams with 16 year old freshmen on the JV teams. |
My freshman lacrosse player at STA is 14 and he is not the only 14 year old freshman on that team. |
I get it that STA kids are on age. The point is the middle school at Bullis and Landon is used as a go again 8th grade spot and so is Mater Dei. |
