I know a half dozen wealth DMV kids who chose it over an Ivy between last year and this year. Lots of kids choose on fit, not prestige. |

I know at least a half dozen kids that lied about acceptance to an Ivy. lol |
| Hey, let's keep this to updates about waitlists and not let it devolve into another Ivy or UVA or UMD conversation. You can start a new thread for that. |
One was mine. |
+1 The top academic kids choose ivy or elite over UVA in state if they get in. Every time. UVA is a backup for the very high stat top rigor top everything students, especially at privates where UVA admission dips well into the top quarter of the class. Plus, for any households making 150k to about 250k, ivies (or hopkins) cost the same or less than UVA in state due to great financial aid |

UVA let 260 students in from the WL yesterday.
VT has started to move but no numbers released. JMU started letting people off the WL about 3 weeks ago. |
Usually true but not every time. |
| DS’ friend got off the Wash U wait list yesterday, full pay boy and accepting the spot I believe |
| Anyone know if UVA accepted anyone off the waitlist in the college of engineering? DD is keeping her fingers crossed. So far, I have only seen psychology as a major in addition to the architecture kids. |
+ 1. Yes, there are some crazy folks on here who come out just to bash NU at every opportunity. |
? New poster. My kid chose UVA over an Ivy. We could afford the Ivy but he wanted to save money for med school. |

The update with the schools open is at the top of the page. https://admission.virginia.edu/waitlist |
Yes. The only kids I know that have made that choice are almost all pre-med. It makes sense since you can finish UVA undergrad in 3 years. |
