And also correct about you. All the best with your delusions! |
| The reason rich people have no societal conscious is bc they sold their souls |
The FA recipients are mostly spoiled brats. The FA programs should just be eliminated. They are corrupt and broken like the individuals posting here. Do everything you can to slash the FA budget at your school. |
Agree. Start by going to the administration and complaining as loudly as possible, while also making clear your ignorance about the financial aid program. It will do wonders for you and your kid’s standing at the school. |
| It’s a joke these schools talk about diversity when they use up all their financial aid on rich people going on fancy vacations. |
Your name calling behavior is in line with a FA recipient. |
DP. There was no name calling. |
Rude to say the other person is ignorant. It is the name calling behavior of someone who wasn’t raised right. |
I’m not sure these words mean what you think they mean. But I was only half kidding. If you feel this strongly about it, do it! I am absolutely certain it will go badly for you, but don’t compromise on your principles. |
You and your family certainly wouldn’t get past the admissions team at our school. Good lord you are miserable. |
PP here. I agree with you, I am receiving a generous gift and we are incredibly grateful. Please keep in mind though that we received the gift by being honest and transparent about our financial situation. We didn’t deceive anybody and we’re not trying to scam a system. We’re trying to send our kids to the best school we can, just like you. It is also a gift and not a loan. There is no implicit or explicit requirement to pay it back. Would I pay it back and then some if I could, of course. Do I hope my child pays it back by using the opportunities they have been given, 100%. But I also don’t feel like I need to growl at the feet of full pay parent. I am in pain, almost 1/3 of my entire salary towards tuition. However, that does not take away from my gratitude to the school and the community for the ability to send my child to such a place. |
Now, see, this is actual name calling. I’m looking forward to that other poster chiming in again to say this is in line with an FA recipient and comment on how this person was raised. I’m sure she will be consistent with her insults. |

This literally isn't name calling. |

Seems like what is missing is that the FA programs and thresholds aren't very transparent.
Deerfield Academy has very publicly announced that any family at $150k or below attends for free and that no family will pay more than 10% of AGI. Considering Deerfield is $80k/year, that means families earning up to $800k per year (assuming you don't have millions in assets) will receive something. I assume that if Sidwell or whomever basically said that any family earning up to $600k per year received something (with some public formula for how multiple kids work) and it was fairly transparent, then there would not be so much complaining. |
