I just came from a gathering of local Ds who would prefer he dropout and encourage write ins, but as the early voting is already happening, that makes things difficult.
Most of the volunteers out there no longer want to vote for him after this, but we are somewhat stuck by the process. |
| Jones’ comments are disqualifying. Spanberger and Hashmi need to get him to stand down or they disqualify themselves as well. |
Your integrity is not dependent on any process. |
Yeah, we're not quite at that point where wishing for the death of children is OK provided said children have parents whose politics you disagree with. |
The texts were posted. They were exactly what was said. There’s no context this is acceptable. The fact you are trying to downplay this is just ridiculous. |
Reckless driving is not just "speeding." Three miles it took the police to pull him over. 116 miles per hour. He did "community service" with his own PAC and had his paid employee sign off on it. That is also troubling--a PAC is not "non-profit." And, the texts in "bad taste?" Really PP? |
| He needs to withdraw or he’s going to bring all of Virginia down with him. Have kaine or Warner said anything? This is outrageous. |

from Mark Warner on X:
"Political disagreements must be resolved through debate and elections, not through threats or violence. The comments attributed to Jay Jones are appalling, unacceptable, and inconsistent with the person I’ve known." |
| Who leaked them? |
|
Lean into it. Would a Republic apologize and drop out?
No way. Jones can just say he’s following the lead of our President’s advocacy for “2nd Amendment solutions.” |
|
this. The purity required from the left is what is killing this country |
You sure he’s not a republican, but this is stuff republicans have been doing for over a decade. |
Of course they won’t. Louise Lucas and Mamie Locke quickly jumped in to support Jones and send the message that Tidewater Democrats would treat any efforts to get Jones off the ticket as anti-Black. Now the Democrats have to wait and see if Jones sinks the entire ticket the way McAuliffe did four years ago. |
No he is not. Democrats lose because they are always willing to throw their hands in the air and give up. Not this time. Don’t let the republicans guilt trip you into doing something they would never consider, such as withdrawing from a political race. Double down Jay. |
