In person schooling is a disaster for many kids. |
How is that any different than destroying rigor, like the Democrats are doing? As for attacking universities, for many universities that call is coming from inside the house. And removing graphic novels from school libraries that depict sex scenes that are too X-rated to show anywhere else is not bothersome to me. I’m with the Republicans on that. Kids do not need their school libraries providing them pornography. |
Yes, they don't joust straw men as a form of political debate, you know like yourself. |
No. You can’t equate this at all. R’s are purposely destroying education because they don’t want the electorate to be educated. Uneducated people are easier to manipulate. As far as banning books, you think this is all about porn??? Wake up. Dog Man was banned in Florida schools. Also many classics have been banned like To Kill a Mockingbird and a kids book called Freckleface Strawberry. |

Embarassing isn't tried to argue with a strawman and lost. |
The impact was truly racist. Bloomberg did a study and proved this to be factual. It turned me against DEI entirely. |
94% percent of new jobs in 2023 were given exclusively to BIPOCs. |

Looks like OP and some other posters are suffering from confirmation bias...hanging out with each other in their small, exclusive, comfy circles and thinking the rest of the country thinks as they do...lol...even Europe is seeing a lurch rightward. Talk about heads in the sand! |
The banning of TKOM has come from the left, not the right. |
I'm not sure where you are getting your notion that "Democrats" are pushing Lucy Calkins - that's typically been a local school board choice and not any kind of national initiative. That said, Democrats have in fact been among those leading the charge pushing back inadequate literacy programs like Calkins and asking school boards to focus on phonics and proven, evidence-based programs that actually improve outcomes, as part of the "Science of Reading" movement which has phonics as its core. New York City for example dropped Calkins curriculum after pressure from Democrats due to showing poor literacy outcomes. Your decision to move away from Democrats because of Calkins was misinformed and if your local school district is still teaching Calkins they are behind the times and out of step with Democrats. Calkins is being phased out in favor of phonics and evidence-based literacy, and Democrats are very much part of fixing that. |
The right wanted it banned because of the racial themes, depicting white characters as villains, "promoting a divisive view of American history" and so on - it was banned in Biloxi MS, Hanover VA, Park Hill MS, Lindale TX and other places by the right because it made white people uncomfortable. https://www.history.com/articles/why-to-kill-a-mockingbird-keeps-getting-banned https://www.pbs.org/newshour/education/to-kill-a-mockingbird-remains-among-top-banned-classical-novels |
Most of the efforts come from the left, because of the depiction of Black Americans. Learn your book banning history. |
You’re blatantly lying. |
