If Bernie Sanders was 20 years younger, it'd be ok. 65 year old Bernie Sanders would win in a heartbeat today. But he's 83 - too old. In the meantime, there is nothing compelling in the Democratic Party. No future Obama or anything. There is nothing about anything in the modern Democratic Party. It's just... vapor. And that makes people angry and feeling lost. This is prime time for a third party, because Democrats are an absolute failure when it comes to providing an alternative to MAGA.

I don't understand what Democrats did to schools. My one kid just graduated high school, and her experience was fine.

What are you taking about?

My kid took plenty of AP and DE classes.
They excelled in online classes during COVID.
They were never bullied.
They never complained about the teaching techniques and graduated with a gpa close to 4.2.

Online schooling was a disaster for many kids, especially early elementary. Many kids can’t read or their parents were forced to get tutors because of the move away from phonics instruction to the Lucy Caulkins cueing system. Perhaps your school wasn’t impacted by the push away from higher level classes in the name of equity, but some are.

It’s great that your kids didn’t suffer from these policies, but many did and many parents have moved away from the Democratic Party because of them.

Just look at the FCPS school board. Members should be barred from political office for a number of years. It is supposed to be non-partisan yet many a members are openly affiliated with a party. One year, instead of stating education as a goal, they cited immigration as their number one issue. They can’t even stay in their lane. And don’t start on the Bush NCLB crap, because Obama ran with it and slapped a new name on it.

The idea that Democrats are good for education is laughable to anyone who had kids during covid.

Nobody believes the party in favor of decimating advanced math is good for education.

Democrats are better than Republicans on education.
Republicans don't believe in science and want to defund education.

Schools need to figure out ways to help kids become the best they can be without lowering standards. The Democrats run Universities, and they have clearly tried to avoid standardized tests that would allow for head-to-head comparisons between people from different backgrounds. EG Republicans did just fine on standardized tests. Democrats had to go out of their way to exclude them (and Asians too).

I simply do not believe any more that the Democrats are better than Republicans on education. I used to believe that wholeheartedly. Of course the Republicans are garbage on education, but now the Democrats are too.

The Democrats right now are better than the Republicans right now, this extends to education.

The Democrats run Universities, and they have clearly tried to avoid standardized tests that would allow for head-to-head comparisons between people from different backgrounds. EG Republicans did just fine on standardized tests. Democrats had to go out of their way to exclude them (and Asians too).

So you think R’s are better? They don’t believe in science. Red states are at bottom with education. They are trying to undermine universities. They want to ban books. They don’t want the electorate educated. Stupid is better for them.

It essentially removes education for me as a factor in considering candidates. Neither party cares or will help.

MAGA doesn’t talk about healthcare and they don’t ACTUALLY care about blue collar worker and they are implementing healthcare policies that will hurt many Americans but ONLY Democrats are doing it wrong.

I think a lot of people want to hate on Dems, including a lot of self-proclaimed Dems for reasons that make no sense. If you give me a reason that makes sense, then we’re getting somewhere. And, yes, the Dems have problems. But, not the problems I’m seeing in this thread.

OMG. I forgot to respond to the Dems arent as bad good for education bit. That is a HUGE lie. They have practically decimated K-12 education. Spelling not important, 1+1 = 3 is close enough, removal of phonics, evacuate and disrupt to classrooms regularly to deal with a single tantrum throwing child, etc. There are so many other things I could list.

Just look at the FCPS school board. Members should be barred from political office for a number of years. It is supposed to be non-partisan yet many a members are openly affiliated with a party. One year, instead of stating education as a goal, they cited immigration as their number one issue. They can’t even stay in their lane. And don’t start on the Bush NCLB crap, because Obama ran with it and slapped a new name on it.

The idea that Democrats are good for education is laughable to anyone who had kids during covid.

Nobody believes the party in favor of decimating advanced math is good for education.
