Apparently not. They are doubling down.

Of course there is this insanity, so apparently the Democrats never want to win again:

lol please please please let her run again.

If she runs again, it won't be for governor. The state has a limit of two consecutive terms, and she is in her second term.

He asked Mills, who attended Friday’s event, whether she would direct her state to follow the order.

“I’m complying with state and federal law,” Mills responded.

“We are the federal law. You better do it because you’re not going to get federal funding,” said Trump.

“See you in court,” Mills said.

“Good, I’ll see you in court, I look forward to that. That should be a real easy one.”

“Enjoy your life after governor,” Trump added, “because I don’t think you’ll be in elected politics.”

Trump is a mafia boss and thug. Stop gaslighting that threatening people is not threatening people.

For the MAGA'ts who are still arguing:

He asked Mills, who attended Friday’s event, whether she would direct her state to follow the order.

“I’m complying with state and federal law,” Mills responded.

She did not pick a fight answering a provocative question and stayed neutral to assert that she is following the law.

“We are the federal law. You better do it because you’re not going to get federal funding,” said Trump.

Who is "we" here? Donald sounds like a dictator by using "we". Donald's response here, to claim his EO as law, is incorrect. The second sentence is a threat and violates the law - a president cannot hold federal funding to force a state to follow his EO!

“See you in court,” Mills said.

Mills was absolutely correct to pushback on bullying.

“Good, I’ll see you in court, I look forward to that. That should be a real easy one.”

Donald thinks he is the king - courts have not agreed on his opinion for it to be an easy one yet. He obviously thinks he has bought the SCJs. But we will see!

“Enjoy your life after governor,” Trump added, “because I don’t think you’ll be in elected politics.”

This is a threat. He is angry that a woman leader has challenged him when all the GOP leaders are cowering!

I’ve watched the actual video. It is being circulated by fellow Democrats who are appalled, not by Trump but by Mills. And why are they appalled? Because she’s wrong that she’s following law and then she threatens to go to court. She comes across as willing to sacrifice Maine’s interests based on her personal belief that boys deserve to be on top of the podium at girls high school track meets. Trump looks like a hero here, fighting to get a popular EO enforced against a radical leftist.

It is absolutely remarkable the cognitive dissonance on this video. The video is playing very well with Republicans (of course), independents, and many Democrats. People are cheering Trump on. People in Maine are cheering Trump on, which you would know if you have connections to Maine. But here in DCUM, and I have to imagine other far-left echo chambers, people believe this video shows Mills winning.

It’s just so crazy to me how people can see the same video and walk away with such entirely different impressions. Why are MAGAs circulating this video so widely? Because they think (and I believe unfortunately this is the majority opinion across the country) that this shows Trump in a very positive light. There is a reason the right is pushing this video so much: because to people who aren’t delusional Democrats, this video is good for Trump. I realize in the sealed echo chamber in which you reside, you refuse to see that truth, but it is critical you understand just how few people across the entire country see it the way you do.

I'm from Maine & live in Maine. Plenty of us are cheering her on! Whats your “connection” to Maine?

+1

We have a few ties to Maine and follow local/state politics. The MAGAs are delusional, as ever, but most support Mills. They don’t like people trying to bully them.

And that annoyed the cr** out of him. He especially hates it when women talk back to him.

This is not a problem that needs addressing. It affects very few women!

It affects us all.

Just the bigots. They get triggered.

My daughter’s PE class has a trans girl (boy who identifies as a girl) changing in her locker room at Walter Johnson HS. Because this boy’s feeling are more important than the twenty girls who now change in the bathroom stalls. None of the girls want to speak up because they know they’ll be ostracized and called bigots by people like you who think girls should undress in front of boys. It’s not a big deal, right?

One is too many. It is unfair, unsafe, and a slap in the face to women. And, a violation of Title IX.
It is interesting that she is choosing this as a hill to die on. It is NOT a popular stance.

This from Feb. 19:
A transgender-identifying male, competing under the name “Katie,” from Cumberland’s Greely High School, came out on top in the girls’ pole vault competition on Monday during the Maine Indoor Track Meet at Bates College.

The student is a biological male who previously competed in boys’ pole-vaulting as a mid-level athlete. Since identifying as a girl, “Katie” has been allowed to compete against female students.

At Monday’s meet, “Katie” jumped 11 feet, a mediocre score for boys, but within just one inch of Maine’s girls’ pole-vault champion, who set an 11-foot, one-inch record last year at the National Pole Vault Summit.

He jumped a full eight inches higher than the second-place winner among the girls.

The student’s participation in the event came in opposition to an executive order issued by President Donald Trump earlier this month threatening to pull federal funds from schools that allow males to compete in women’s sports.

🙄 yes, pp. we know about this incident- it’s the reason for the whole thread. This issues wasn’t plucked out of thin air. It’s all based on the track meet.

Right. So then you have the governor of Maine defying an EO to defend the grotesque spectacle of the track meet, in a state that is struggling financially. And the federal government is threatening to withdraw funds because of her defense of something that is extremely unpopular even in her own state. It makes the governor seem like a religious fanatic. Trump, who should be coming off as a horrible bully, is seen instead as protecting a struggling state and the girls in it from a religious extremist.

As a lifelong Democrat, sometimes I think the party is doomed. This is not the behavior of any politician who wants to win an election. It is the behavior of a cult member who is willing to destroy the entire party on the altar of her cult beliefs. When you have someone as vile as Trump appear to be the one who is on the side of justice and fairness, you’ve lost the plot.

The amount of Dems who have MAGA beliefs and use MAGA tells is staggering.

It’s not MAGA to want the Democrats to win again and soon. I know you are a cultist that would prefer the Democrats to lose perpetually so that high school girls can continue to stand beneath boys at track meets, but that is an extremist cult belief.

Winning is not everything. I want a country that is fair for everyone, regardless of gender, religion, or other beliefs. As a grown woman who has lost to men in many ways and who has no transgender child, I still firmly believe that all natural and legal rights should be equally accessible to all humans. I do not want my party or any other party to deviate from this fundamental belief just to win. Politics is not a sport; politicians should not enter politics merely to win. They should be driven by conviction and a commitment to making life better for all citizens.

You don’t want a country that is fair for everyone. You want a country that embraces and codifies male supremacy. And that’s what you are getting, unfortunately.

The Democrats used to be the party of fairness and making life better for all, but they’ve instead become the party of the elite, devoted to propagating a deeply misogynist belief system. Those who want a party that actually makes life better for all citizens won’t find that in the Democrats any more.

Exactly this. I don't understand why Democrats keep doubling down on having biological males in women's spaces, including sports. The misogyny of Democrats is a big reason why they lost in November. When Republicans look like the more sane party, you know you have completely lost the plot. Progressives are the gift that keeps on giving to the GOP. An issue like this is guaranteed to play poorly in rural and small town Maine. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Americans have said a hundred times that they don't agree with Democrats and their insistence on equating biological men with women. Maybe Democrats ought to try listening to voters.

You keep spinning the narrative. It is REPUBLICANS obsessed with this issue and who want to act as cruelly as possible. They are the dumba$$ sheep to are sucking down the BS fed to them about what sort of problem this actually is.

I, for one, will not cater to third party bigotry. If that ignorant person in all white rural middle-of-nowhere doesn't understand that or understand why they are, in fact, bigots, at least i can live with my own integrity.

No, it’s major Democratic politicians across the country that are driving this. Come on. We can see what the politicians are actually doing, you know. DCUM’s blue cultists are really something else. They refuse to see anything the Democrats are actually doing.

Also, male supremacists should not be using race and class as insults. Speaking of bigots.

It’s going to continue to push more people to vote for Republicans. Normal people hate trans nonsense.

“Normal people” are now losing their jobs right and left even in deep republican areas (and mass firing at the DoD have not even started yet). They are busy scrambling to find a way not to lose their homes. Whether somebody they dont know and will never met and born as John now wants to be called Mary is pretty low on their list of things to worry about

Just more people who are susceptible to click bait. The law in question has to do with family law and artificial insemination and making language clear when it comes to same sex couples. Rage bait and mouth foamers fall for it every time.

No, we aren’t falling for this reframing and gaslighting any more. It’s not 2019. There is no need for rewriting the law to turn mother into “inseminated person” even to support same sex couples. Lesbians who have babies are still mothers.

This was classic cult language policing, correctly identified as such by Ritchie Torres. And it is indeed repellent behavior from the Wisconsin governor, who should be spending his time on far more important matters.

Then post why Democrats lost the election. I thought the joyologist would win and we would now have the neatest underwear drawers in the world as Kamala Harris sparked joy in all of us.

I call bull. Girls have been changing in the stalls or behind locker doors forever because they are scared of being body shamed by their naturally born female peers. That has been the case for decades.

In my personal experience of using swimming pool locker rooms, I can say definitively the only people walking around in full nude are 70+ year old women and older Asian-born ladies (God bless them they don’t care), and the occasional 4-year old boy there with his mom, And no one is staring at anyone else’s bits because that is weird and creepy.

A gestational carrier who is using another's eggs that were inseminated by someone's sperm is not a mother.

A woman who used her eggs that were inseminated by someone's sperm is the mother of the child that was created. If a woman buys a child from that mother, even if her spouse's sperm were used, she would have to adopt the child and would be the adoptive mother. If the sperm provider buys the child and only one set of sperm was used, the sperm provider is the father. If there are multiple sperm providers, a DNA test will determine the identity of the actual father. The prevailing sperm provider is then the father, even if the multiple sperm providers wish to call themselves the father of Lily.
