Exactly. |
Haven’t seen the Honor Society posts. But have seen zilch on Honor Roll. I hope it’s just a delay bc of the turnover in the staff, and not a de-prioritization of academics or some weird attempt not to acknowledge those who excel academically. |
|
With all the complaints about the middle school you are concerned about BSSM honor roll being posted? And you made a new discussion thread on DCUM to complain as well?
The certificate was received in the mail, if you want your kid recognized post the certificate to social media. I would rather the school be focused on fixing the middle school and making qualified hires than recognizing my kid in the middle of summer for making Principal’s List. Priorities! |
How hard is it to include the list in an email? It’s a false choice. And btw, if you want to fix the middle school, one way to help do that is to create a culture that values and emphasizes and celebrates academic achievement. |
| Maybe the school realizes that they can’t reach all students due to their limited resources, so to announce an honor roll would essentially announce the school’s limited reach. |
What? |
For all your non-stop ranting on these threads, your time would have been better spent applying at a school that would meet your expectations. I don’t have a kid at St. Mary’s, but my child was in a school that was being poorly run. Instead of ranting countless times over multiple days, I SOLVED my problems by enrolling them in a different school. I suggest you consider doing that, as well. |
Instead of ranting about other people’s rants, your time would have been spent ignoring other people’s rants and just reading other threads that didn’t trigger you so much. |
The only person on this thread who is triggered is the poster who can’t stop complaining. See all the posts with digs followed by “Weird.” |

Our DS is at BSSM, elementary school. We've been less than impressed with the Principal. He's weak, disinterested in feedback, and blows off all parent concerns with "I have 5 boys, this is normal." Maybe for your kids, not for mine.
The reality is: if you only hear/listen to feedback from your staff, you're missing 2/3 of the story. 360 degree assessment is crucial. This past year we did not feel our child was supported socially or academically nutured by his teacher. We're bereft at the loss of the AP. She's amazing, stood up for the kids and listened intently to parent feedback. Then did something to solve problems and fill gaps. We are actively looking for MS alternatives. We also believe sunshine is the best disinfectant. Publish test scores, explain the peer norm (BTW, the spring meetings provided a global norm, not local or like community norm...so comparisons were not meaningful). |
Very well put. The lack of interest in feedback is especially troubling. They rarely solicit feedback, and when you give it, it’s usually ignored or not even acknowledged. Out faith is supposed to stress humility and self improvement — this school acts the opposite. And yes — the failure to publish test scores shows that the school has zero interest in accountability or improving. And the sudden decision to not publish honor roll or celebrate achievement reflects how the school is going in the wrong direction. If you could, please post what MS you land at. We are looking too. |
Well said. |
| What’s up with the BSSM instagram? All of a sudden it is filled with excessive content. |
The “social media volunteer” is probably trying to get ahead on their HSA hours. Instead of that nonsense, they should post the honor roll from last year to recognize students’ accomplishments and excellence. Even if that results in hurt feelings. |
Stop sock puppeting and get help. |
