My kid is a straight A kid who was in a Humanities magnet MS program and Geometry that year and got Level 3 across the board.  Are they testing material that is just not well aligned? I would have expected maybe 5-10% in the State would be at Level 4 at least.

Also, it looks like the kids who were taking the Geometry in 8th grade took a Geometry test. Are the State performance numbers (what percentage of Maryland students got each  performance level) then only those students in the accelerated track and taking Geometry in 8th grade?? It would seem surprising that 28% of such kids got Level 1 and 48% got Level 2.  That is a lot of kids who were put on the accelerated track who didn't get to proficiency in Geometry![/quote]

No, they are testing based on common core standards. MCPS is not doing a good job at educating. As just one example — all of the novels my kid read in middle school English were well below the grade level Lexile band. [/quote]
