Yes, it’s funny when people are older than us. We should mock them. |
I fear that you're correct. I am English, live and work in the DMV, and am currently in Dublin for a work trip. Earlier this afternoon, I walked across the campus of Trinity College with my daughter, who is a student at University College Dublin, and even the student population here is better dressed than what you see at Georgetown, GWU, CU, AU, etc. |
No, not really. I have never seen this anywhere in Europe. I grew up in England, Bavaria, and Austria, and go back frequently for work and personal reasons. I am currently in Dublin, Ireland, and I have not seen a single person in pyjamas. My daughter is a student at University College Dublin, and I just asked her if she's ever seen her uni mates in sleepwear, and she shook her head in response. We're going out to dinner now, so have a lovely afternoon/evening, ladies. |

I attended a birthday party for an elderly relative this weekend and one of his friends (late 80s) told me she get dressed up to attend Zoom church at home!
Now that would never be me for many reasons, but I thought it was charming. |
Because I have better things to do. Seriously, you should try it. It’s freeing. |
Agree. It is really depressing. I do think it has something do with majority of people being overweight now. Stretchy and baggy clothing is just easier to fit into. |
| I hate seeing pjs and those fleece lounge pants out in public. I tell my husband if I ever do that, I need a checkup. |
Sometimes mild restrictions and expectations make things a little better. |
Oh, come on. My mother is 77, so pretty freakin’ old, and she went to tons of rock concerts in her day. She knows that you don’t wear low-heeled pumps, sensible double knit slacks, and a tasteful strand of pearls to a rock show. That is just the recommendation of someone completely out of touch. |
+1 |
The PP’s were clearly mocking the use of the words “pumps” and “slacks” more so than the suggestions. Hence my reply. |
That’s crazy. No one should ever be subject to any restrictions ever. Nor should they be expected to feel even the slightest discomfort. No one else in the world matters except for ME. My opinion matters, yours doesn’t. My comfort matters, yours doesn’t. Other people are basically NPC’s. I am the main character!! ME ME ME. (This is what most of the respondents on this thread sound like, BTW. And yet they think they’re adults. Oh well.) |
Agree. Like it or not, ones appearance has an effect on how others view you. I promise you, even the overweight ones in keggings and a messy bun are judging others based on looks and presentation. We need more mirrors. |
so..... I should dress for others' comfort? That's crazy. I'm dressing how I want to, when I want to, and it's not my issue if someone has a problem with it. |
I thought this was a joke, but somehow it’s not |
