During COVID, Students got a MiFi from FCPS if they needed it, and probably still could.

It’s insane that people think the way to improve public education is to elect more Republicans. There’s a reason why they’re not being elected here.

Who are these "moderate Democrats"? There's Moon and....?

Calling McDaniel a "moderate Democrat," as some have done, is an exercise in self-delusion. He is a political opportunist, and he perceived correctly that there was a lot more to be gained in Fairfax by aligning himself with far-left Democrats than remaining a moderate Republican. Why would he switch his stripes now and recast himself in the mold of Megan McLaughlin or Chap Peterson?

Sizemore-Heizer, Anderson, Frisch, and Meren are all far-left. McElveen may be slightly less far-left now that he has kids and lives in the Langley district, but he's far-left as well. The other newcomers have every incentive to glom onto to whatever the incumbents want to keep doing.

Cry more!

So Moon IS the only moderate Democrat?

So not a real reason to not have homework.

I think a more accurate (but still imprecise) analysis is you had about 181k blue-no-matter-who (Falcon), 64k red-no-matter who (Nuttall write-ins), 21k ticket-splitters, and 80k who only voted for one or two particular offices or bonds and ignored the rest of the ballot.

Looking for a decent private school is now the only option for local families.

And just watch property values plummet over the next decade.

Thanks, voters.

Ok, why don't you just go to a private school then and stop complaining on this page?

I’m glad we got Moon and McElveen.

They did! Melanie and Karl got more votes than the others. It turns out when you run far-right candidates like Harry jackson and tony sabio, you lose.

Yep. As much as it pained me to vote for Meren, the alternative was simply unacceptable. Jackson was a train wreck I don’t want to see anywhere near the school system.

Definition of insanity...

You people are nuts.

Make sure you send your kids to Lewis, Mt. Vernon, Justice, Annandale, Herndon, Falls Church, West Potomac, or Edison.

DP: Kid is doing great at Herndon! Don't believe the hype.

I just didn't vote in that race. Why give a vote to someone I don't want in the job? It was clear he wasn't going to win.

My kids go to an immersion school and an AAP program. They are both doing just fine. If you need private, go for it, but we are getting a fantastic experience in public for both of them and are very happy! Maybe if you had been smarter about your choices and the programs you put your kids in, you would be happy too.
The GOP has been saying it to poor people for years: Those bootstraps are meant to be pulled, and only people who help themselves get helped.

So here it is, right back at you.

So basically the people in Fairfax who can't make an immersion school happen or have smart enough kids for AAP which is the majority of Fairfax County should just go find somewhere else to live? Is that your solution for equity? Immersion requires driving to the school which most families can't do unless it's their base school. Not all students in immersion schools are excelling. AAP is through a test that no parent has any control over their children getting in. It's not something parents can plan for. Stupid stupid post.

No, sillyhead.

The poster is saying if you vote for christofascist GOP for SB, your scramble for better schools will happen sooner than you think.

Not really.

Like many other blue areas, overall public school decline doesn’t affect the wealthy and upper middle class. Their children either attend the public schools that perform or they pay up for private.

People in certain pyramids will continue to send their kids to enrichment camps, hire tutors, and otherwise make sure that their own don’t lose.

A strongly performing school with prepared, stable students will continue to attract those teachers disposed to teach in public schools.

The richest areas will continue to have high property values and the highest ranking schools.

It is what it is.

More like the christofascist school near me is looking more and more appealing. When it didn't before.

I've been here for several decades. The GOP has been on the board before and nothing like what you mentioned has ever happened hear. Fearmongering.
