One of the nice things about moving to the suburbs is that you no longer have to engage in the cognitive dissonance that living in DC requires. That somehow 6000 stolen cars per year or muggings in broad daylight is normal.

Having grown up in the Maryland suburbs, though, and lived in D.C. for most of my adult life, including all of the time I've been a parent, I don't think living in the suburbs is entirely free of cognitive dissonance. It's just caused by different things.

Capitol Hill.

I would have left when that mom and her four year-old got shot by the scooter dude

+1 when random crime starts targeting women and children, that's beyond too far gone.

Ugh, I think men should be included in this scenario. JFC, any victim would show it's gone too far. You don't get to pull the women need to be protected card any longer.

A Good Samaritan in Arlington got the sht kicked out of him last weekend when he tried to step in and help a woman in a domestic violence situation. No one is safe.

And the fool doesn’t want jail time for the violent attacker. SMH.

That has nothing to do with crime and everything to do with the psychology of abuse. I've stepped in a few times, (I'm a pretty big guy) always to be told -- by the woman being abused-- to mind my business.

A man that beats a woman in public is not tethered to any social mores or values. A normie has no chance in a fight like that.

Wasn’t it Snoop Dog (feat. Pharrell) who wrote the lyrics “if a b**ch got attitude; pop it like it’s hot, pop it like it’s hot, pop it like it’s hot.”

It’s just a song. Hilarious! Nothing wrong with joking around about domestic violence

He’s lucky he got his ass beat. He wins that fight and his prize is to star in a viral video as the face of white supremacy.

The only winning move is to not play.

But, repeat after me, “things were worse in the 90s.”

That was a shooting on the train not at the station but yeah … point taken.

I lived there in the ‘90s and it was much worse. But that doesn’t mean today’s level of crime is ok and should be tolerated.

Posts about the 11 year-old who was arrested by MPD for his involvement in 3 armed robberies, and covered by WTOP ?

- those should be deleted. Nothing to see. Move along. Most feel safe in their neighborhoods.

Wait - WHAT?!?

This can’t be real

Yup it is, oh and the Post had an update today about the 12 year old who had previously been arrested on 9 carjackings, robberies, etc. He had for some reason been placed in a shelter house and not held at the juvie detention center and wait for it….he fled the insecure shelter and is at large. Yay DC and progressive criminal justice policies!

I hate to be a keyboard warrior, but that 11yo sawed off could have a bazooka and I’d still take my odds against him.

You can’t ethically just throw a 12 yo into prison. Get real. That kid needs help and not just empty punishment. 12!

A 12 year old who has racked up 9 violent offenses cannot just be left to run the streets and victimize more people. He absolutely should have been in a secure juvenile detention facility. No one said he should have been placed in an adult prison.
