Bulletproof glass between the retailer and the “customer.”

You pay first, then tell the retailer what you want, and your order is passed through a bulletproof turnstyle.

It works in other crime-ridden cities. Why not D.C.?

Those barriers are racist because it assumes that all BIPOCs are thieves. It's the same as crossing the street when you see a URM coming. The vast majority are not criminals.

Who cares what you think.

Considering most of the people who work in these stores are people of color, they actually want to be safe from the few people who will actually rob them.

Yes most customers are fine. But even if 1/1000 are not, I would want a barrier between me and a gun pointed at me.

Think of why the barrier is there in the first place. If crime was not such an issue, you would not need it.

You’re racist if your assumption is to automatically think BIPOC when considering safety issues.

Yet the thieves (of any color) are stealing billions of dollars of unpaid goods nationally in the US. The stores are unable to stay open without securing the merchandise from theft.

You realize we just started getting rid of these maybe 20 years ago?

Our society was in a hell of a lot better shape 20 years ago.

The vast majority are not criminals but the few who are are screwing things up so badly for businesses and citizens that these kinds of measures are needed.
Instead of whining about businesses and imaginary racism you should be focusing on the few screwing it up for everyone else.

Non-criminals are not offended by necessary crime protection measures.

We were so close to Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream and then all of a sudden we had the 1619 project and CRT and now every person and every object is racist.

What a sad day for America.

CRT is the mistaken theory that everyone and everything is structurally and systematically racist. Hence the barrier is racist.

The idea for the eternally troubled DC crime lab which is rarely certified to be federalized and run by FBI and ATF was a useful one. USAO says that is a hindrance to bringing many cases - drug, gun, sa, etc.

I am continually bemused that DC has this pretense of statehood, but the city keeps running back to the Feds to bail it out when it cannot manage basic state functions like run a prison and now a crime lab.
