Omnibus Corrupt SCOTUS Thread

Alexandra Petra is a national treasure and she is right, evidently one does not need to know the law and one gets a cushy, Kardashian-esque life if you are a (Republican) Supreme. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/08/11/clarence-thomas-billionaire-vacation-ethics-satire/

Then get a private job that pays you enough to do that. If you want a lifetime job in *service of the American people making critical and life affecting decisions* that pays probably in the top 1-5% of salaries (someone here probably knows exactly how much) with a guaranteed retirement *all funded by the American taxpayer* then you should put Americans first and not your grifting, corrupt self.

This is embarrassing for the US and completely dangerous to our democracy.

I don’t care what party you are in- we should be 100% aligned as American citizens that this is NOT okay.

Clarance needs to go. And bring in some reform that each president gets to appoint a Justice and keep “extra” justices (above the 9 if they are still able to serve) around to cover cases where justices should recuse themselves (which should happen WAY more often). Roberts should recuse himself from any case where his wife was paid more than $50k, etc).

Republicans. Do. Not. Care.

No, they don’t. They’re way too busy obsessing about how much a guy who doesn’t have any job in the government got paid.

The example of Clarence “Openly on the Take” Thomas should make them shut up about Hunter but weirdly it doesn’t.

What a shock.
Pro Publica got more wrong than right in their hit piece.

The story makes much of Mr. Novelly’s 126-foot yacht, the Le Montrachet, which he takes on fishing expeditions in the Bahamas. ProPublica claims to have found that Justice Thomas took “a previously unreported voyage on a yacht around the Bahamas.” Justice Thomas tells me he has never seen this yacht and hasn’t been to the Bahamas since the 1980s, before he joined the high court. A senior official with the Novelly organization confirmed that its records show Justice Thomas was never a passenger on any yacht owned by Mr. Novelly.

Mr. Novelly co-owned a different yacht, the Daybreak, with Mr. Sokol. That boat was docked at Mr. Sokol’s home in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., when Justice Thomas visited in 2018. Mr. Sokol and Justice Thomas have both confirmed that Justice Thomas walked onto the boat, got a tour of the engine room, and left within 30 minutes. Mr. Novelly wasn’t there, and the boat never left the dock. That’s the only time he has set foot on a boat owned by Mr. Novelly.

Pro Publica needs to produce evidence of their claims.
They won't because they can't.

Pro Publica is not to be believed.

He was at the football game that Pro Publica referenced. Ticket price - $65. He should know.
And, because he is friends with Thomas, he knows that they yacht he supposedly went for a trip on - didn't happen.

So, it is up to Pro Publica to produce the evidence of the things they accuse Thomas of doing.

Just sad.

Why? Their children were illegally adopted from Ireland and that shouts their lack of ethics and morals.

Someone ought to.

You know prior to Trump’s constant criming I didn’t give too much consideration to who has standing or why and now I do wonder and I wonder if this is the best place to investigate or perhaps if it is the only legal place to do so.
