Because it would be in line with Scientologist beliefs that both Katie and Suri are suppressive persons (like Tom and thr Church declared Nicole) and that means absolutely no contact.

Me too. I always found her death really tragic and infuriating that someone on that boat knows what happened. It also prevented me from every loving Christopher Walken they way people did 15 years ago. He knows something.

Shockingly rare doesn't mean it doesn't happen though. I have had 6 students with DS over the last 7 years. 3 had mothers who gave birth over 40, 2 were in their early thirties and 1 was from a teen pregnancy. I don't think it's strange that a young, pretty B-lister would fall for him and then get in over her heard. He is STILL Hollywood gold despite everything that has happened.

Maybe Chris dumped her and she was too proud to beg. If she was 28, she was a young 28 and was not as self actualized as actresses like January Jones or Mindy Kaling who are rare in hollywood to have made the single-mom choice even at much older ages. Plus we are gossiping about them anyway. Katie recovers by marrying a big star within a year of her broken engagement.

Sure Tom is a big star. But celebrity women do not want him, for all the reasons. He could get set up with a no-name, beautiful, fellow Scientologist, but he hasn't done that. Maybe now that he's 60 he can give up pressure to be a leading man in a relationship with an ingenue.

He dated Penelope Cruz for three years after divorcing Kidman.

There were rumors back then that the Cruise/Cruz relationship was a fake. Basically, after Nicole, Penelope, and the increased awareness of Scientology, by 2004/2005, Tom Cruise was tainted.

I'm not someone who drops "anorexic" easily, but she really does look like one and I suspect heavy drug use as well.

I just learned recently that the whole Mary-Kate Olson Went To Inpatient To Recover From Anorexia was a PR cover for an insane coke habit. That she was starving herself made a nicer story and fit the image of a good girl actress rather than an out of control drug addict. I think it was a brilliant move and the whole eating disorder victim status really stuck with her.

Because they'd already lost one kid. Not protecting Burke wouldn't bring Jonbenet back, and they would likely lose their other kid.

I'm not saying that I'd do the same thing they did, but I can understand wanting to keep your only remaining child out of the juvenile system for what may have been an accident. Maybe he would've gotten some kind of lenient sentence, but they didn't know that in the moment. I hope they got him whatever help he needed over the years.

I’ve read so much on this case and it was definitely the brother. It seems like it was an accident and their parents were utterly traumatized and made up a story so that he wouldn’t get in trouble. I think they honestly couldn’t conceive of a way of dealing with the murder of their child by their son so they went on total denial and invented a story to tell the media.

Casey Anthony didn’t kill her daughter Caylee; the child drowned in the pool by accident while Casey and her dad were in the house. They had left the back door open which they were explicitly told to shut by Casey‘s mom, because Caylee was prone to jump into the pool without supervision. Casey and her dad were so overcome with shock and fear of being charged with murder or neglect that they hid the baby‘s body.
