Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread, Part 3

Anonymous
Ford's story has changed. She has changed the # of people involved since she told the therapist. She told the therapist that she was in her "late teens." She changed the statement from her polygraph from early '80s to '80's and other small changes which go back to what she told the therapist.

In a case like this, where a public takedown of a man's reputation and whole career is being put in jeopardy, it seems to me that we need to know more about the accuser. Even the part of the Safeway and Mark Judge is odd --did she read Judge's book, maybe--apparently, it may tell us when he worked there and the lawyers and Ford know this. She seemed quite insistent that they look that part up. And, when did we first hear about Judge and the Safeway? Was it before or after she hired the lawyers?

Here is a twitter site that has a thread in it that lays it all out pretty well. There are more holes in Ford's story than I had caught. It seems to me that if Kavanaugh is going to be derailed over this, that the therapist notes should be available to the FBI.

Republicans wonder why "no one has come forward all these years"? Well, he could make or break the careers of his clerks--of course they're not going to speak out against him. The circles he ran in are tight-knit and protect themselves. If you speak out, you lose your professional friends, your career, and are blacklisted. It's actually very similar to Weinstein.

How do I know this? I have family members in these circles. They wouldn't say a word even if they knew something, because they don't have equivalent power to Kavanaugh. It's self-preservation (over the good of the country).

Just look at her immediate family, her parents and her brothers - they've all been invisible even though she is close to them. But they all still live here, her brothers are both successful DC lawyers and they don't want to mess up their careers by coming out against a federal judge who'll probably end up on the Supreme Court.

Also, there's been crickets from his classmates at Yale Law School even though there are several stories about his drinking and passing out, and one episode discussed among alums about an inappropriate drunken outburst toward a woman (see the pattern?). But the people who have direct info are all too scared to talk.

Even Dr. Ford's second lawyer had to quit his DC firm to defend her.

I think anyone, male or female, should speak up without fear and regardless of political party, race, religion, social status or any other possible barrier. I ALSO think that's it's beyond terrible that someone can be accused and that some people (you?) think only the accuser's word is taken at face value.

DP, but in this case, the accused has demonstrated being a serial liar. Further, the victim has provided something beyond "no evidence" to bolster her claims. In fact, the accused own calendar suggests specific dates where this event may have occurred.

Nothing has happened to his life. This will all be old news in a couple of weeks and he will be on the SCOTUS.

I’m sorry but so what? Statistically speaking, she’s probably telling the damn truth.

But you don't know that she is. No one knows who's telling the truth. And I certainly care about an innocent man being treated as if he's guilty. You claim to also, but of course, only if we're talking about a POC. Right?

It doesn't matter. If you have a hint of scandal = NO SUPREME COURT

He was a wild guy in high school and partied a lot. Those are the breaks.

Funny that didn't come out until so late in the process. Really funny.

or during all the years of his adult life in which no one has every come forward with anything of this nature

People - women - don't come forward with this type of allegation because they fear the very criticism and speculation Ford's allegations brought to her.

That backlash against the accuser can be as painful as the initial assault. Sure, innocent until proven guilty, but accusers have the right to come forward without being painted as angry/crazy/unstable/loose/embittered (fill in the blank) harpies who were out to ruin Brett's very fine and upstanding career. Which is exactly how conservatives have painted Ford.

Conservatives just want these women to shut up. Unless of course they are making accusations against a Democrat and then conservatives are so very concerned about women (Franken).

Spare me. You absolutely want Ford and others who inconveniently raise flags to shut up. You're trying to walk the line and you can't. Your last statement gives you away. Ford has been asking for an investigation so that we DON'T have to rely on just her word and conservatives have fought it until this past week. So no, you don't want them to talk unless it's about your political opposition.

And via Don McGahn, are apparently still fighting it. We need transparency on what the WHite House has suggested to limit and how the supposedly independent FBI will respond.

I could accuse your husband or boyfriend of rape and statistically speaking, I'm probably telling the damn truth....

Will you take a polygraph? Will you name others who were present at the time? Will you ask the FBI to investigate it?

The fact that she is asking for the FBI investigation while he refused to ask for one should tell people everything they need to know

Do you mean a privately administered polygraph done by someone my attorney chooses? If the others present don't recall the event or time in question, will you take my word over theirs?

I am pretty confident that if part of the FBI investigation was to administer an additional polygraph test, Dr. Ford would submit to it. Would you? Would Kavanaugh?

It turns out the woman screaming in Flake’s face yesterday is Ana Maria Archila, co-executive director of Soros-funded Center for Popular Democracy and Center for Democracy Action Fund.

Interesting....

I knew she must have been paid big money for that vicious performance.

It doesn't make her story false.
