Snow day

I lot of bare patches out there now. Still alot of ice but much less so I am now going 50/50 on tomorrow. If it was a Monday, I'd bet schools would be open but since it's a Friday. I think it's 50/50 at best leaning towards being closed. I think Friday and Saturday's sun plus Sundays 40 degrees and sunny will have the roads in great shape for Monday.

Yeah I think Monday

I don’t think they should give up just because it’s a Friday. My DS teacher posted that they are doing review tomorrow for a test that’s next week.

This right here is why teachers shouldn’t be posting any plans for days that may or may not happen. Now kids are stressed for no reason. That review should happen next week. Telling kids what they’re doing tomorrow when there’s been no school each day is pretty goofy.
Yeah I don’t understand this teacher. Have they been posting this every day? Why now? Nobody knows anyways, but most teachers expect to be out tomorrow.

Stupid to give kids homework/post about reviews/tests etc when we don’t even know 100% when they return.

PWCS has a 2-hour delay which is dumb. It’s Friday! Stafford has tomorrow off.

LCPS is also a two hour delay. I think FCPS is going tomorrow on a delay too. A lot of melt happened today.

I was a PP who posted upthread about conditions. I would expect this road to be more well-plowed but I do see cars parked on the side on Google maps street view and a lot of the streets I saw that were not in good conditions it’s because cars were obviously parked on them when the plows went through and then the plows had fewer options for where to push the snow. Also this is the kind of road I was talking about where there is a sidewalk but no one seems to actually have a house on this road, so no one shoveled the sidewalk. I took my kids to a dentist appointment on the other end of the county in Lorton today and saw the same along Lorton Station Rd. It has sidewalks and bus stops, but everyone actually lives in the little neighborhoods off the main road. Those sidewalks were shoveled by residents. The sidewalks along Lorton Station are just packed down ice because no one is really responsible for them.

That's a shame. They probably don't have an HOA to remind everyone to move their cars for the plow. I have seen quite a few buses come through there. I hope they can manage tomorrow if open.

We have an HOA in my neighborhood in Springfield and they advised moving cars to the main road that has a good sized shoulder, but people didn’t listen (and there are a number of abandoned cars but that is neither here nor there …) and now the road - which is a public road where VDOT is responsible - leading into our community is a sheet of packed down ice. Fortunately the bus stop is at the end on the corner with the main road, but there are a few special education students and preschoolers who are picked up at their homes and I’m not sure how well a bus could get down the road at this point.

Not at the bus stops though. Dr. Reid needs to maintain her principles.

My HS kid's AP teachers have been posting suggestions and schedules of things to come. To AP tests aren't going to get pushed back and there's only so much time to learn a lot of material, APUSH and AP chem especially.

As a teacher, I’m praying to god we don’t have a 2 hour delay. WHAT is going to get done during 5 hours on a Friday after three weeks off 😭 it’ll be absolute madness.

A whole lot of good it does go back on Friday. What a failure.

They’ve got to be open with a 2 hour delay right? They’d be the only ones closed. ACPS and APS opened today, LCPS and PWC are going for it tomorrow with a delay …

How can you open when the bus stops are still sheets of ice or mounds of snow?

Are conditions similar in Loudoun and PW?

Doesn't matter. Dr. Reid has been very clear that the bus stops need to be clearer.
