How would we know? Call the Principal and find out. Why does McLean need its hand held on everything snow-related? Half the posts in this thread are McLean whining. |
This right here is why teachers shouldn’t be posting any plans for days that may or may not happen. Now kids are stressed for no reason. That review should happen next week. Telling kids what they’re doing tomorrow when there’s been no school each day is pretty goofy. |
Yes, something must have happened. Anyone know how Sea Cliff Rd. entrance is? Evers was a mess and we started slipping so we could not walk to check it out. I drove by Westmorland entrance and that seems OK. Just trying to figure out if walking is an option. |
Many roads in our area that previously were ice covered had a major melt today. |
I was a PP who posted upthread about conditions. I would expect this road to be more well-plowed but I do see cars parked on the side on Google maps street view and a lot of the streets I saw that were not in good conditions it’s because cars were obviously parked on them when the plows went through and then the plows had fewer options for where to push the snow. Also this is the kind of road I was talking about where there is a sidewalk but no one seems to actually have a house on this road, so no one shoveled the sidewalk. I took my kids to a dentist appointment on the other end of the county in Lorton today and saw the same along Lorton Station Rd. It has sidewalks and bus stops, but everyone actually lives in the little neighborhoods off the main road. Those sidewalks were shoveled by residents. The sidewalks along Lorton Station are just packed down ice because no one is really responsible for them. |
It looks like they are ready to announce as yesterday's alert is gone. |
I wasn’t looking to debate or analyze. Just my feeling based on what’s been going on. |
I do have a real job. But, I went out and shoveled part of the community-good—- a street. I make the kids also shovel. Many hands, make the work quick! You can shovel for 15-30 min before and after work. Its additive. If you see a popular sidewalk or a bad icy spot on your street, go attack it. We all live in the community together. I also called up VDOT and talked to a human to get them to come plow —- and they did! Take action. Be a good neighbor and a good community member. You can do better. |
But the roads don't matter to Dr. Reid, it's the bus stops and sidewalks. Don't think there's been any improvement on those. So if she's being at all consistent... |
Very much to the same in our Falls Church neighborhoods. |
It’s a county road, the high school principal can’t answer that question and it isn’t their property to clear. |
Also they are having a ton of problems in Richmond with the water supply and water outages due to the same storm so a lot of crews may be working down there as opposed to here. |
Okay, the answer is 'because'. |
Hah, no school Friday, get real. They will announce late tonight to avoid drama today. |
That's a shame. They probably don't have an HOA to remind everyone to move their cars for the plow. I have seen quite a few buses come through there. I hope they can manage tomorrow if open. |
