Superficial question - do you still wear your class ring?

Anonymous
I just found my college class ring after 15 years. I still like it; it's a gold signet ring, i.e., all metal - no stones of any kind. I suppose it someone really looked they could tell it is a school ring, but it's not obvious.

Does anyone still wear these? I would like to, but don't know if that is weird.

Honestly, I never knew anyone who ordered a class ring, let alone wore it. I'm surprised people actually did this. That ranks sort of there with wearing "PINK" across your ass or something.

I have a gold signet ring too. I graduated from Syracuse University in 1993. I guess they were popular 15-20 years ago. I don't like the way it looks any more. Seems garish. And I usually wear silver now. So, long story short, no.

Really? At my school in the 90s lots of people bought them.

I don't have a college class ring.

My hus band wears his semi regularly. UVA signet ring. I notice other men wearing theirs.

Mine is also a signet. I stopped wearing it about a decade ago (a decade after graduating). Many of my friends wear theirs. Sometimes I miss it, but I don't think I'd ever go back to regular wear. Prefer only my wedding/engagement ring, and sometimes a fun decorative cocktail-y type ring.

Think it depends on the school/ring tradition. USNA grads, for ex, wear theirs. Texas A&M. Around here see a lot of UVA.

Many women's college grads wear theirs - they are distinctive and a big deal. Have a friend who wears her mom's Wellesley ring, for ex(friend did not go there). In this area, have met women from Hood college, when it was a women's colleague had a distinctive pinky ring. Wonder if they still have a ring tradition as a coed school. same with the former Randolph-Macon women's college, I don't even know what it's called now but they had a classy ring.

Most women in my high school bought them, and they were very simple and elegant. I'd wear it if I could find it. And if I wore jewelry often. Ha.

I have a signet ring from law school. Haven't worn it in years, but I would. No reason not to. But I wear jewelry for me and not what others might think....which means I'm not a fashion plate at all, but I'm happy.

I think only corny people still wear them. After ten years out, that's the only excuse.

I never got one, so no.

Interesting perspective. I'm kinda corny (and by that, I mean overly sentimental) and I occasionally wear my school ring because of the memories it evokes. So you may be on to something.

I have a pretty signet one from HS that I still wear.

No. I think once you graduate, put it in a nice keepsake box and leave it there.

Don't you buy it when you graduate?
