Our high school pretty much forced class rings on us. There was a ceremony when we were juniors and then a dance.
I don't think I wore the damn thing more than a couple times, and now it does just sit in a box somewhere. Never got a college ring. |
Where did you go to school? At least, which state? My girls' school did the same. There was a ceremony with a senior girl as your "ring sister." |
| Signet rings can be worn forever and are classic. The ones with stones can't. People don't wear signet rings to have pee read/identify their schools. They are just simple everyday rings. I see them often. |

I wear mine every day, just because I like it. I was not going to buy it, but then my dad got wind of it, and insisted he was buying me one. He's at Texas A&M graduate where your ring is more important than your diploma. I'm glad he did.
I did not get a HS ring, partly because my mom had 2 and never wore them. (she spent junior and senior at different schools) She offered to melt hers and have them recast. I figured if she never wore hers, I probably would not wear mine. |
| My dad wears his every day. None of the colleges mentioned. |
| On occasion. I like it and unless someone actually looks at the ring up close, they wouldn't know it as a class ring. It isn't the traditonal style. I don't care if people recognize it as a clas ring. |
| No, I haven't seen mine in 10 years. |
| I have a signet ring for my college. Both of my parents are alumni and my dad was allowed to give it to me at the ring ceremony. It's more for the family tradition than the need to brag about my school. It is also white gold so it matches my usual. |
It was a catholic school in DE. |
| I haven't worn mine for a long time, but I'm not against wearing it -- just haven't worn much jewelry lately. I do like it - white gold with black stone, not in typical class ring shape/style. Doubt anyone would know what it was. |
My high school too! In Baltimore. |
| My FIL wears his - from West Point. |

Anyone ever been to an Academy "Ring Dance"? I went to one at the Naval Academy back in college (I did not go there, was dating someone that did). It was a BIG deal event at the end of your third year and I would expect Academy grads to wear theirs.
The class ring thing never appealed to me but I am not a jewelry person at all. |
| I love the MIT rings even though they are obviously class rings. Funny little vignettes. |
NDP? |
