Western is not in 6A. So, I don't think they can come within 5 goals of YT in the playoffs. I also don't believe that any of the other 6A contenders are as strong was Western. Of course, any of the top contenders could knock of YT on any given day. However, the poster's prediction is reasonable in light of YT's resume. |
Cosby lost by 1 to Western. Watch out for them. Senior loaded. |
It’s interesting that a 4A team could theoretically knock out YT (if they actually played against each other in the States) when WA is technically pulling from a smaller pool of players (6A vs 4A). YT is certainly dominant this year but I’m looking for the upset. Madison could be that team. |
YT scrimmaged Cosby this season...I believe it was 16-2. |
I assume that everyone other than YT fans would be looking for a YT upset. Obviously, YT will be getting everyone's best shot. Madison has the ability to upset YT, but they lost 18-13 when they played...Madison also lost to BF and SL. YT is undefeated and has played the toughest schedule in 6A. Western is a very talented and extremely well coached team. |
Let's talk about how your team did against YT. |
YT is undoubtedly the Champ until someone figures out a good game plan that is different then the last 35+ games.
Oakton had a shot 7th game of season lost by 3 now missing top player. Madison had shot 10th game of season lost by 5. Just squeezed by Oakton can they? Langley had shot 4th game of season lost by 6. History against them but I don’t think 3 horses can get them there. Battlefield had shot 2nd game of season lost by 5. Healthy and team is rolling through lesser competition until maybe state quarterfinal. Will they be ready if they meet in semis or finals. |
I rank the local contenders: 1.) Madison, 2.) BF, 3.) Oakton, 4.) Langley. I rank Langley fourth because they just lost for a second time to YT last week 16-8. Madison has speed, draw control ability, and the senior experience to challenge. BF is talented but very inexperienced and I don't think BF is ready this year. Oakton is clearly capable at full strength, but I'm not sure if they have enough firepower without everyone healthy. I think YT is the big favorite to win it this year. They have played all the contenders without faltering. Every other contender has stumbled multiple times. |
Yorktown and Madison are both the favorites because of senior leadership. Yorktown has already played and beaten anyone who would be standing in their way. Madison has had some losses this season that they won’t let happen again. |
Predictions for region semis? |
--------- We just played Langley and let me tell you that they can beat anybody and not just 3-headed monster. They probably have the deepest and most talented roster in the state for publics. 9 travel players (5-Capital and 4 playing for YJ, Pride and Stars). We controlled the first half and a few bounces went our way, but once they got going, it was hard to stop. Great game BTW, wish we could've held on for the win. They are long, strong and fast just like a poster said before. The 3 seniors stood out, but there are 2 underclassmen at Mid and Attack that people are sleeping on. I pick them as the dark horse to pull the upset versus YT. Oakton lost their best player and Madison seems to be a one man show and can be sloppy at times, that's how we beat them. Shoutout to our SL coaches and players, was a great season!!! Good luck to the rest of the contending teams! |
Thanks Madison mom. Good luck! |
Ok… They lost to YT by one goal in OT. Game could have gone either way. |
Let’s keep it positive for next 3 weeks. Good lax for everyone coming this week, |
Love how Madison assumes they will be in states yet they have to get by Langley who has more size, a better goalie, will get less yellow cards, and a clear advantage on the draw with #4’s self draw. Both are good teams - will come down to coaching, goalie composure and penalties. |
