Paraben-free/other yucky chemical-free deodorant that actually works?

Tried Toms and Kiss My Face and I still get rather stinky. Are there better brands out there, or do you just have to put up with a little stink because there's no anti-persp in the "natural" brands?

Bump.

The best deodorant, natural or bad-chemical, that I have ever tried is the baking soda/cornstarch/coconut oil mix. You have to make it yourself, but that involves stirring the first two into the oil and you're done. Google for recipes. I tried it with essential oils and that was irritating, but plain has never caused a problem. Really. This stuff works for a day and a half at least. It's freaky.

I haven't found anything that works either...so what I do is use deodorant with antiperspirant in the summer only and go all natural in the winter. Cutting my exposure in half is my compromise.

I also look for brands with lower amounts of aluminum. They range from about 13% to 20%.

I use Coastal Creation's stuff: https://www.coastalclassiccreations.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=109&Itemid=150

It's basically the same ingredients as what 3:34 uses, minus the coconut oil (which irritates my skin). That combo works fine for me most of the year but is less effective during the summer. When it's really hot I am lucky to get through 3 or 4 hours. I've tried re-applying, but it doesn't help.

I think I will do what 9:04 does. Good idea to switch in the summer.

I'm convinced that none of them work. I sweat a lot and have tried at least 12 different natural antiperspirants and none have worked. They smell ok but don't stop sweating which is what I need. The only thing that works for me is secret clinical strength which is like 1/5 aluminum unfortunately. Toms smells pretty good though...

I read somewhere that Lavanila worked really well, but it is SO expensive. I got a sample from Sephora recently, but am waiting until it gets cooler outside to start using it!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looking forward to trying these out.

Curious if anyone has tried Burt's Bees deodorant? I've heard it works well but have not tried it or seen it in any stores.

Malin + Goetz is alcohol and aluminum-free. It should be paraben-free, too, because it is an all-natural company.

I knew two women who swore that once they stopped wearing deoderant and used fragrance-free detrrgent on their clothes, they sweat less from their armpits and didn't smell. I've never been brave enough to try but I can say that neither of these women had a noticeable odor to me.

As for me, I give my pits a break at least one day and sometimes two on the weekend unless I'm going out in the evening. I've noticed that stress sweat smells worse than everyday sweat, so I don't have too much of a problem.

I've also noticed that when I eat primal, I not only don't smell bad, but smell good. I can not shower all weekend and not smell rancid.

I've done this and it is true. Anti-perspirant *tries* to prevent sweating, which means all the toxins in your body can't get out. When you do sweat, you smell. When you stop using deodorant, you may sweat more and smell worse at first, but your body will adjust. After you have adjusted, try a natural deodorant (I bought something from Etsy) and also have used Welda Spray Deodorant. I still sweat, and sometimes smell, but I feel better about my choices. If I need to, I can always use regular deodorant. Also, drink lots of water and try to eat healthy - meats and sweets do make you smell worse when you sweat.

Yes - the Lush solid deodorant works wonders.

I use Tom's and/or Kiss My Face and usually reapply in the summer (after a late afternoon dunk in the pool or shower). I do agree that once you cut out the antiperspirant you notice more stink in the beginning (and will definitely notice that you stink more when constipated).
