| Love the name but now all I hear is "Rory Whorey" after someone mentioned it to us. |
| Your friend is reaching. I've never heard anyone say Rory Whorey before. |
| i would have never thought of that. i know someone named rory and it never came to mind. |
| No. Don't worry about it. Plus, the Gilmore Girls but the name Rory on the map. |
| That's ridiculous. Of course not. |
| I know someone who named her son this. It is a very difficult name for little kids to pronounce. In fact, the boy said, "Wo-wee". |
| There are so many ways kids will be teased during their lives. I wouldn't waste time trying to figure out the perfect non-teasable name. |
This. You'll drive yourself crazy if you try to figure out if every name can be teased. Don't pick something ridiculous (i think rory is aforable btw) and it'll be fine. I was called Krissy in grade school. Some boys would call me Kissy and make kissing sounds behind my back. |

I have a 3 month old Son named Rory. I was more concerned with little kids being able to pronounce it than any possible ryhming/
teasing that could occur. So far every little kid, including his 3 year old sister and several 2 year old cousins have had no problem pronouncing it. But whatever you decide to name your baby don't share it in advance with anyone, someone will have a problem with any name you choose. |
| I think you are safe regardless and especially since I assume the name is for a boy. Sadly, "whore(y)" just isn't an insult unless you are a girl. |
| If other kids are going to tease your son, they'll come up with a way - even if it has nothing to do with his first name. I really wouldn't worry about it. |
| Rory is a girl's name, isn't it? |
| It sounds very feminine, but I've only ever met boys with that name. |
|
I've also only known boys named Rory.
The only girl I can't think of is ferret-faced Rory Gilmore, but I tend to assume that TV writers are stupid about names anyway. |
| Rory is a nickname for Robert. |
