Mclean confirmed the timeline and what ECNL told them, agreed that it is a terrible situation but said that there hands were tied--lots of good kids getting left out espeically in recruiting years but ECNL doesn't actually care about the kids. Boys coaching slate is a problem because lack of Mclean coaches who know those kids but they said those coaches chose not to join FVU.

Sinking ship….

And so it begins…here come the wave of negative comments from families leaving that did not receive an offer.

Kids lose and you cheer because your kid got an offer. Karma has a way.

There is no offer or cheering here. It is a tough time for all the families and especially for the kids. I am pointing out that this process is not even close to over yet and people are already bashing their old club on their way out.

Don’t try and walk it back now. You’re blaming complaints as nothing more than the sour grapes of parents of less deserving players than your player.

Classy.

McLean parent here. MYS didn’t have a choice this time maybe think they have a lack of long term plan . Like when SYC went MLSNext in their Alliance they should have done something then (2 years ago) instead they waited around. props to SYC, they had a plan MLS Next and GA and stuck to it.

Ha! I think their karma is getting an offer.

Laughing at other’s misfortune due to circumstances beyond their control.

Again, karma has a way. Keep talking and showing people who you are inside.

ECNL should have had a transition period to help the kids who are in recruiting years. They are all about college right? Instead they are crushing college plans

Is ECNL really the villain though? They do need to keep up certain things. If a club isn’t meeting those levels then they need to make adjustments. I’m not sure we know when the cllub(s) were notified. And the club(s) decided how to proceed. Is it possible the ECNL said you have another year or two or whatever timeframe to get your teams in order? We don’t have alll the facts.

Will there be a realignment in the mid Atlantic conference?

Most of us learned a long time ago that "fair" is a four-letter f-word not to be used by or in front of children. Get them ready for life, for goodness sakes. Things far worse than this will happen constantly.

attended town hall last night. ECNL first approached Brave and MYS at the coaches meeting in January 2024. MYS at least (unclear on Brave) asked for a year to transition so that this could rolled out in a more coherent manner. ECNL essentially said no. It had to be now or else they would not renew membership in April. ECNL guy sounded like a true jerk.

If the kids is not the top players than that is an issue. I do understand if the kids are the top 3 players on the team, than there is no need to show up.

This is exactly how you know what was said in the townhall is just an attempt to shift the blame. Mclean has known about this for months, chose to sit on it, and then looks to blame ECNL. There was time to work with the national organization, but they couldn't make an alliance happen fast enough and at the last minute, it turned out to be with another ECNL program instead of the others that were called.

Union or Brave could still offer to support those kids in their affected recruiting years using their college connections. NM and others have already supported many external kids they train when it comes to recruiting and introductions. There's no reason they can't do it it now, and so far, no one has posted anything to say they've asked for that support and been denied. Stop wringing your hands and threatening lawsuits about what's happening and do something to help your kids find a soft landing, internally to FXU/Mclean/BRYC/VYS or externally. It sucks but it's happening.

ECNL should make its criteria for remaining in the league clear and consistent. They don't.

Lol many were already planning a departure before this merger. This reinforced the decision as a correct one.

Considering and planning are two different things. Why have your kid attend the sessions at all then? Probably best for everyone to just move on. The negativity sucks.

I'm laughing at how many GA parents have been created over the last couple of months.

Development != crazy number of games, and club hopping

That is a problem if you are not being proactive about the situation
